Sad but true. As always, we'll have to wait for the playoffs to judge.

As Sedale said, his shot selection hasn't changed at all. He's just not capable of elevating and hitting all of the shots he used to, isn't as athletic, and those factors bear themselves out on the court.

Kobe changes when he sees the finish line though. He's proven the last 3 seasons he can be counted on come summer.

The fact that we literally go 4 deep on many nights (Kobe/Bynum/Pau/Lamar) and not much else really doesn't help either.

Bynum's importance is at an all-time high not only because of Kobe's age but this piss-poor "supporting"cast (save Matt Barnes, who unfortunately has been hurt and in-effective a great deal of the time since earlier) who on many nights get trounced (in terms of production/impact) by opposing support players.

As much as everyone is leaning on how he "gets better" in the summer/Playoffs, did you all forget how terrible be played, overall, last post season? Against PHX and Boston, at least, he wasn't impressive, but Pau, or Artest, or Odom, bailed him out. Bad shooting nights were regular for #24.

I think last night put this thread to rest. If you watched the game you saw kobe can be the best player when he needs to be.

this is the most lol post in this thread. didnt kobe average like 30ppg against phx shooting around 50%? yeah and he hit those ridiculous shots to win game 6.i would also say besides game 7 and sort of game 2, kobe played an amazing series against boston. you need to watch the games.

anyway, i think alot of kobe's poor play this year, especially late in quarters, is he gets stiffer much quicker from sitting on the bench. his decrease in minutes is actually messing up his rhythm imo. i think last nights game was a great example. he was killing it all night (shooting like 9-13 at one point) and then went to the bench for the 4th. came back, and was missing easy shots he was hitting all night, he just looked stiff. once OT came around, and he had worked back into rhythm, he started killing again, and won us the game.

just my observation, cant really back it up, but i think the increase in minutes in the playoffs will actually help kobe.

Kobe played great against Utah and Phoenix. It was the OKC and Boston series where he underachieved.
