Aren't we something like 9 mill under the cap BEFORE signing our draft pick and our own free agents? Maybe it will be a strange market with the new CBA having its effects but signing guys like De Jordan is not going to be an option.

yep, we don't have the capspace (we needed to free up room by moving Barbosa/Jose at the deadline to do that). Although we do still have 9 million of the Bosh TPE to use in a s&t, so we could make a play with that, or use one of our existing players (Bargs?) if the right deal presents itself.

Probably not the best competition but at least J-Val is still playing (and playing well).

14 points, 11 rebounds, and 3 blocks in 20 minutes. yowza.

Still looks like Val is the #1 centre prospect in this draft.

NBA conspiracy theory post ---

The Anaheim Royals will get the first pick in the 2011 entry draft. With that pick, they will select hometown phenom Derrick Williams to help boost attendance.

There should be lotto restrictions for re-located teams like there are for expansion teams. If you can't run a business then you shouldn't get a top-3 pick.

I'm starting to think if we don't get the first overall that this pick is going to be moved in a package deal this summer pre draft. Just a thought. Prolly will get flamed. Oh well.

I can't wait till workouts begin. Seeing as how Barnes is getting cold feet, makes it more imperative we land in the top 3. Otherwise, yeah...

Like I expected.... Let's say we get bumped down to fifth and Irving/Williams/Kanter/Val are all gone. Who do you take then? I'm not sure myself...

I think Val has become target number 1 for me. good chance that he drops to us given euro contract. limited bust potential thanks to great motor/disposition. position of greatest need. great length and rebounding ability. high upside. can actually roll to the basket. frees us up to trade AB for positions other than C.

means nothing.
When Barnes actually makes a decision, it will likely be all over the media and fairly obvious. However, if you want to stay 5 minutes ahead of the media, just check out unc forums and see what they have to say, because they will know who is credible and who isnt.

so the last guy who claimed he knew forsure that Barnes was staying, MArty Tirell (you can see his horrible tweets here: http://twitter.com/#!/martytirrell) turns out had never meet Barnes before.

These guys are not credible journalists. They are reporting what some guy wrote on a message board or are blindly making something up trying to gain hits.

When any player declares for the draft or decides to remain in school, you will know with certainty.

I don't know about Val at all but if we don't get Barnes, Irving, Kanter, or D-Will, I'd hope we could trade the pick for Nene or something. Probably no way in hell that happens though.
