Theres only a few bottom feeders that I would say have literally no shot next year of at least making the playoffs.

Royals
Pirates
Orioles
Indians
Blue Jays (Only because of their division)

...Diamondbacks? Everyone thought Padres were a last place team last year look what happened.
...Nationals? Could be hard without Strasburg no matter how much they spend on outside talent to keep the fans interested.

But it's a hell of a lot harder.

It is.

Am I the only one who thinks that deal is a bit overkill?

He's the second best power hitter in the game imo. Likely he'll make half as much as Pujols, which in itself is a bargain. We still have yet to see what he can do at Fenway given a hot stretch. I think after this year we'll have a real barometer on exactly what kind of player he is.

i dont even think its enough...tex got 8 yrs 180 mill + a no trade clause....not only did he get one less year, he also couldnt secure a full no trade clause

i thought he couldve gotten closer to 200 if he really pushed it, considering RS would be privy to keep him since they gave up players to get hi m
