Re: Morrow rejoining Blue Jays soon?
I actually don't mind Buck and Tabler as they are easier on the ears than any of the Raptors guys. Rance and Campbell put me to sleep, and Fletcher sounded like some guy watching the game at a bar.
I might be the only one that enjoyed Faulds doing commentary that one season before Campbell came aboard. The CBC guys from a few years back were ok (Rance was ok with Barfield breaking up his boring talks).

Tabler's the kind of guy i'd really like to punch in the face.
never met him.
seems nice enough.
but i'd just love to wind up and pop him in the shnozz. make him bleed.
think its his Huckleberry Finnisms that make me so angry.

Nothing will ever ever make me miss Rance. Thank god he doesn't do games anymore.

Reyes is probably the worst starter of the three.
It's not just two starts though. Out of spring training, he's had problems with his velocity. It's still only tops out at 90 at the most when he hit 92 last year. Something is up.
My rational for Cecil going down is AA philosophy. If you move Reyes to pen, you lose value out on him (starting vs. relief). Same with Litch. If you believe that AA is "The Asset Collector", than I believe optioning Cecil down is the way to go.
If you move Cecil down to work out his velocity issues, it "postpones" the decision on the starting five without losing value out of anybody. It would utilize an option that wouldn't other wise be used (think Halladay, without the complete change of pitching mechanics).
Things will work out for Cecil if he does get sent down and in a month or so, the Jays will have to figure something out with the rotation.

Re: Morrow rejoining Blue Jays soon?
Sending Cecil down to AAA Las Vegas isn't going to accomplish anything other than destroy his confidence even more. It's not a good idea, and I don't expect them to do it. If he can't regain his velocity (and he remains ineffective), they'll likely just put him on the DL.
And I'd rather move Reyes to the bullpen if he's going to stay. It's where he'll do the least amount of damage.

I just looked it up - and to answer my own question, it was (Canadian!) Warren Sawkiw...
Those were hard times.

Ashby is insufferable, I don't know how anybody can listen to him for more than 2 minutes. He uses the same tone for every sentence. Horribly cliche radio kitsch that is more fitting in an SNL skit. Thank god there's an option for the other team's broadcast on the MLB iPhone app. Buck is similar to Ashby in that respect, although actually shows real emotion once in a while. But still trying to be too cookie cutter. Howarth is great, although he's getting cranky. Nothing wrong with that. I don't have any issues with Tabler, either. As for how this relates to Brandon Morrow, I don't really know.

True story: Warren Sawkiw brought in the scorecard from his first broadcast to the custom framing shop my mom works at.

Re: Morrow rejoining Blue Jays soon?
Anyone think there will be a 6-man rotation?
Romero
Drybek
Morrow/Cecil
Reyes
Litsch
You split the starts of Morrow and Cecil until they both feel 100%.
Or, maybe they'll put Cecil in mid/long relief until his game improves? It also add a lefty to the bullpen.

Re: Morrow rejoining Blue Jays soon?
You know, I've never had a problem listening to Buck and Pat. I don't look for cutting-edge analysis in my color commentary, I want some folk that will either fade into the background and not piss me off and/or who can make me really feel some extra emotion when something good happens. They do a decent job of the latter and I don't find myself getting grumpy about what they say a lot.
I know baseball well enough, or at least how to learn if I care, to figure stuff out about the game. It's not school, it's baseball. They're solid enough for me.
He's one of my favorite Jays ever, but would we rather have Joe Carter announcing? Really?
I don't care if all I hear about each game is how nice it is Farrell has them running, or nothing but company lines. I liked Chuck Swirsky, too. He made you feel it when something good happened and didn't drop a whole lot of WTF-IS-WRONG-WITH-YOU-?!?!? idiocy, just the expected groaners and cliches. Same thing, man.
At least it isn't Rod Black and Leo Rautins, that's all I'm saying. Watching a Raps game with them talking is like having a root canal and a colonoscopy. Buck and Pat together is not that bad by comparison.

Re: Morrow rejoining Blue Jays soon?
Thought I'd just re-post last year's ESPN article after Morrow's 1 hit 17 strikeout game last year. It was one of the top 5 pitching performances of all time, just amazing to watch.
I think it's insider, am I allowed to post most of it? It's an old article, so does it matter?
