I meant to post this in this thread, but did so in the Bayless thread.

Go check out Givony's twitter page, some interesting commentary on the 2012 Draft prospects.

Jordan Brand Classic is tomorrow, I believe, right?

If we got #1 and we feel like Irving is redundant with JBay I thinkwe have to select DWill. I mean, you can comb the market just to see what's our there though because you never know.

The closer the draft gets the more I'm liking Williams as the guy to pick.

If people are fine with Bayless then Irving's value package with a contract or two may get you a decent centre we need. Not sure if D-Will will actually solve our problem here...

I feel Bayless should stick to doing what he does best, scoring and have Irving runs the team and Bayless as the scoring 6th man off the bench.

I definitely would not pass on Kyrie just because Bayless had a handful of good games during the season. According to Doug or Grange, not sure which, Irving has a lot of supporters within the organization right now, and I expect him to be the favorite if we get the first pick unless Williams blows us away in workouts and shows that he can play the 3. This has Derrick Rose vs Michael Beasley written all over it.

My personal opinion is that Irving is not only the better player but also the safer pick and best fit for our team, all rolled into one. Bayless can play off the bench in a Barbosa or Lou Williams role, or else we can re-sign Barbs and trade Bayless for other players that can help us. But I'm not the GM so we'll see what happens.

Yeah, you look at the highlights, numbers and intangibles, and it's hard not to love this kid.
20 points on 10 shots and coming up with huge plays after huge plays to lead his team to the Elite 8 is simply amazing.

Yup it's DRose vs. B Easy all over again  I also feel that Irving is the type of point guard that's hard to find, I don't know if there will be a point guard as polish as him for the next few draft. And especially there might not be a point guard like him next year simply I don't think Kabongo/Teague/Cook have that type of upside and as opposed to SF positions there are a lot more SFs with great potential next year. If we get #1 (KNOCK ON WOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!), we take Irving and RUN !!

I would be happy with trading for a 2nd top 5 pick, like using Bargnani and a future 2nd.

What do you guys think of this..

If Barnes returned to NC we trade Andrea + Barbosa's 9mil expiring (pending him picking up option) to say Minnesota or Cleveland for their 2012 first rounder.

Good shot at drafting Barnes + Rivers next season.

Knowing there will be much more talented players in 2012 draft, I don't think they'll be willing to give up their 1st rounder.

Bayless - Billups
DeRozan - Ginobli (role, not the same style of play)
D. Williams - Beasley (with heart)
Davis - JO
Jordan - Extremely poor man's Dwight Howard

Does anyone the max we can offer for a free agent this season? I was on the Clippers board and supposedly DeAndre's perceived value is around 10 million which are causing the Clip fans to not want him back.

10 mill, are they serious? Then again, Hedo's not even worth 10 mill too. Anything is possible.

If Irving and Williams are off the board and the Raps are picking - I'd prefer them to reach for Terrance Jones. I watched some of his games this year and he looks like he could turn into a great pro. A nice fit alongside Davis and Demar.

Harrison Barnes is a great player, but I think Jones is too far behind. People are sleeping on him because he didn't takeover any of the tournament ncaa tournament games he played.

Anyone else think he deserves a look?

If we drop to 6, I think we'll have to consider him. IMO, his drop off in performance had more to do with mental issues than anything. I thought he became way too passive as the season went on.

Yeah I'll take Terrence Jones over Vesley. He had a great start to the season and started slowing down towards the end. Then in the tourney he was nowhere to be found. But whatever, the talent is there.

I'm really hoping Barnes declares. I think the first tier of players right now is Barnes, D-Will, and Irving. There's too much uncertainty about Kanter and Val to put them as consensus top 3 picks.

If we luck into the 1st overall pick you definitely take Irving. And then i'm hopeful we can trade Bayless for perhaps a late lottery pick in the same draft and pick up someone like Biyombo or Terrence Jones (just a high upside guy basically). This is a weak PG draft, and it's possible someone would give that much up for Bayless (who really raised his value with the added PT we gave him).
