Chuck Hayes anyone?

Post#1 » by HolyToledo » Sun Apr 17, 2011 10:45 pm

It looks like the Jazz will have some salary cap room for a middle of the road free agent, Even though he isnt the best or prettiest player in the league, Chuck Hayes is the exact type of player we need coming off the bench. He plays defense and is an energy guy. THese are two issues the Jazz need improvement for next year. I wouldnt mind paying him 4-5 mil per year, and even as high as 6 mil per year. He makes the Jazz better.

It seems like CHayes is just a lateral move with even less manuverability than what we could do by signing AK47 for the same amount. Maybe we keep Millsap, but then he takes that role,. Basically we can't have two of three on that, one of three, and I"m going with AK47. Get out.

Hayes is one of my favorite players, but I doubt he'd leave Houston.

I remember reading somewhere that the Jazz will have enough for a max contract and filler. Is that not the case? Either way, I say we use any money we might put towards Hayes and put it towards Afflalo.

Afflalo may be hard to pry from Denver. The Nuggets have more cap space and are currently playing better than the Jazz. I would love to have him too, but I think he's out of our reach. No reason for him to bolt from DEN to UTA.

I like Afflalo too but I'm not as infatuated as most. I definitely don't give him more than 5m/year.

Not 100% sure, but, I dno't think we can offer more than MLE to a free agent. (unless we have bird rights of course)

No Chuck Hayes. It is time to find some fully sized players for their positions.

All this talk about cap space, MLE and Larry Bird rights is really meaningless right now. The CBA expires on June 30 and by the time there's a new one it may be drastically different.

We have no idea what the cap will be, how hard/soft it will be and what exceptions there will be (if any).
