Athletics Acquire David Purcey.

"The Athletics will acquire lefty David Purcey from the Blue Jays for minor league reliever Danny Farquhar, tweets Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports.

Purcey, 29 in a few days, was designated for assignment by the Jays last week. The former first-rounder is out of options, so the A's must keep him in the Majors or attempt to pass him through waivers.

Farquhar, 24, returns to his old organization after a brief stint this year as a Sacramento River Cat. The A's had acquired him in November as part of the Rajai Davis deal with Toronto."

That's more than I'd have expected for Purcey, and I'm glad to get Farquhar back.

I think minor league relievers with poor command are a dime a dozen, but hey, it was for Dave freakin' Purcey, so welcome back Danny!

Steal. Farquhar has been on fire to start the season, and he's doing it in the PCL. Control will always be a concern...but you're looking at overpowering stuff.

I'd have accepted a bucket of fish, but I shall gladly take back a half-decade-younger pitcher with at least some intriguing upside.
