Gasol...Where have you gone??????
February 7, 2010 12:58 PM
Gasol kept complaining that "he doesn't get enough touches....(because Kobe is on the floor/because Bynum

hasn't learned to play with him.)...how about tonight???Kobe was out and Bynum was out...can you justify 13

points for a super player like Gasol?....the reason why Kobe gets to touch the ball so much is because most of

the time the rest of the team does not step up to contribute enough to win.....Gasol chooses to play for Spain

and comes back from the off season tired and weak and sustains "injuries" that keep him off games for a large

part of the time and expects to come back and have everyone hand him the ball...what is the point when he

keeps losing it or not making shots!....Remember Gasol:....YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO IMPROVE FROM YEAR TO YEAR

not get worse!

(then another fan said this about Pau) PAU is so weak and acts like a woman! Can't defense, can't make shots, can't rebound! Lakers must trade this FAKE.

I'm pretty sure this really belongs on the Lakers' board, since, well Pau plays there and all...

just thought it was interesting that some lakers fans feel just like some of us felt when pau was here.

Gasol has been playing for over a decade now as a pro and he turns 30 this year, just like me in a few weeks. His ceiling has been reached as far as athletic ability goes. He ain't no Ben Wallace. Pau will be alright though. When they lose this year everyone will say this stuff again. It's the way it is for his body type. Can't be helped.

He has been to the finals 3 times and has 2 rings. I'd say that the Lakers did alright in that trade, but so did Memphis over time. It is why you can't judge some trades for a few years. Like the Jazz trading DWill this year, until the Jazz use up the two lotto picks on players and those players have a year or two to develop you can't really say that the Jazz made a good/bad trade.

i'm a lakers fan...i remember when this trade went down....i saw pau's younger bro play .....he was really good....i wasn't excited about giving uyp marc for pau.....pau's poor play late in games, and his lazy/let people push me around approach is getting old and tired....marc hustles, grabs rebounds in traffic/not just the ones where there's noone around.......but then i chuckle when he and the rest of our squad act like they don't know wtf you're talking about when ppl call pau soft.....i bet if you ask kobe and co 15 yrs from now about pau, when he's no longer needed, the truth about their feelings will come out....

It seems like some fans just can't let go. We have one poster on the Blazers board who never fails to take an opportunity to note how the Randolph trade to the Knicks was horrible. It's been almost 5 years, but Zach's extension is another excuse for a tired old thread on how the Blazers sold Zach for pennies on the dollar.

Who?

In defense of the poor fellow, the threads are always fueled by a large contingent of Blazers fans that insist Zach is a worthless piece of $hit.

I can understand a fan or two wishing that certain players could stay with their fav team until the end of their careers. However it comes to a point where you have to let it go. In Zach's case, he needed to get away from PDX in order to better himself as a player and a person. He's done a great job during his tenure as a Grizzly.

2 Championships in trade for Kwame Brown who couldn't take criticism at all? Regardless of the Lakers winning this year or not, I say that it was a GREAT move for the Lakers. Don't kid yourself. Marc Gasol is a beast, but I still stand by what I say in that it was a GREAT move for the Lakers.

But now that Gasol has played like a panty for 1 game dispite being the most consistent player for 2.5 years for this Lakers organization, I think we need to trade him back for Kwame.

Base, you fail at trolling - seriously. If you think for a moment that the trade was Pau for Kwame then either you don't understand how/why trades are made in the salary cap era or you just fail at trolling. Probably a bit of both.

I do know how the salary cap works (didn't realize that you wanted me to point out every aspect of the trade for you), and I am not trolling. Sure the Grizzlies saved some money, but none of you thought that Marc Gasol would be an important part of the team now that the Grizzlies are in the playoffs and at the time thought that it was a horrible trade to begin with. The Grizzlies improved by winning 1 playoff game (YAY!). I am actually cheering for the Grizzlies to send San Antonio home. I am tired of hearing Spurs fans make excuses for the loss.

Ultimately, when it comes down to it, the trade was Pau for Kwame, those were two biggest players in the trade. What had Crittenton done for the Grizzlies, where has Mckie gone? Looking back on the trade now, both teams did benefit, but Lakers benefited more. We lost butterfinger Kwame for 2 rings. Who could argue with that?

I was responding to this thread because I was pointing out how I can see that Pau has been the most consistent player in the 2.5 years we have had him. Obviously, trading Pau back for Kwame is a joke. Not all Laker fans bash him after a bad game.

Enough said. Thanks for playing. If you think that the trade was Pau for Kwame, and not Kwame's expiring, I beg to disagree.

Wow.
You have no idea what you're talking about, do you?

Of course it was for Kwame's expiring, not the player.

Of course Memphis knew about Marc Gasol back then, their entire family is a part of Memphis(both parents work @ local children's hospital) and Marc played High school ball here (was Mr. TN basketball when he played here)(went to my daughter's school in fact, along w/ Adria their youngest brother who isn't quite as tall as either older bro (6,7ish @ 16)but, has some skill. Calipari offered him a scholarship but, Marc wanted to play in Spain instead.
We have an entire Spanish forum in our main forum that has watched Marc ever since he went to Spain.

I seriously doubt you could find a single Grizz fan who didn't want to trade Pau because he was playing so disinterested and soft that it was painful to watch. Best move the Grizz ever made.

see? ...... win/win for both franchises.
