Draft predictions

Post#1 » by skbucks1985 » Wed Apr 20, 2011 6:44 pm

The draft is 5 days from now. There's been some scuttlebutt that its happening sooner than normal because of Edge's retirement which means Smackdown doesn't have a top face(we all know Vince's views on Christian.) Regardless, the draft is happening on't knnext week and here are my predictions on 5 people that go to each show:

To Smackdown:

Orton-I wouldn't have predicted this a couple months ago. But I think there are only two people that WWE regards as main event faces with Edge gone and Cena isn't going anywhere. I'd love to see Christian win the title at Extreme Rules, but I don't think its going to happen. ADR wins and starts a lengthy feud with Orton and Christian slips back into the mid-card.

Daniel Bryan-He had a near 6 month title reign but other than his feud to get the title over Miz his reign was pretty forgettable. I wasn't a huge fan of the Ziggler feud and that was it. He wasn't on Monday's show and before that he was part of Santino's makeshift group. Going to the blue show and he can show what he can do.

John Morrison-I don't know if I'm necessarily predicting this as much as hedging my bets. Its a near certainty that either Morrison or Orton will go to SD and become the show's top face. Before this Trish situation I would've said its Morrison but I'm not sure now.

Ted Dibiase-He's had a pitiful year. He needs to go to Smackdown but more importantly get a complete image makeover.

Evan Bourne-He can be a jobber who gets more than 2 minutes.

To Raw:

Jack Swagger-Let's make it official since he's already a regular on the show

Kofi Kingston-Crap or get off the pot. Make a decision with what you want to do with this guy. If Orton does move, Kofi with some luck could become the show's #2 face.

Justin Gabriel-They're clearly building to a breakup fo the Corre and other than Barrett he has the most potential.

Drew McIntyre-Heel version of Kingston although if Sheamus, Miz and Punk all stay on Raw not as great a chance for him.

Hornswoggle-I literally couldn't think of anyone else I thought was likely. Hornswogggle + Santino= undending hilarity.

Interesting choices...I agree with a lot of what you've said. Dibiase desperately needs a rebrand, and Orton would certainly add some needed top-end star power to Smackdown.

Not sure about Morrison, though. Isn't he now a contender for the Raw belt at Extreme Rules? Seems kind of ridiculous to put Truth in, take him out, put Morrison in, then move Morrison to the other show all before the match even happens.

DiBiase and Bryan for sure should move over to SD...would have some really good matches over there. Think they could really bring back meaning to the IC title (if it stays there).

He is, although I don't see him as a real threat to win that belt. I think he's in the match primarily to take the pin and protect Cena. Plus, last year Orton wrestled Swagger at some PPV although they were on different brands.

What I would do:

To Raw:
1) Alberto Del Rio- I think the WWE will move him to Raw and put him in the Main Event scene. He will supplant Miz as the top heel on Raw and gets the HUGE push that we all knew was coming. Lets face it, you can't become the next big superstar if you're stuck on Smackdown.

2) Jack Swagger- As was previously stated, the guy is already on Raw every week. This is pretty much inevitable at this point.

3) Rey Mysterio- Puts him in a position to wrestle against Sin Cara or Evan Bourne. With all the smaller guys on one show, we could see more exciting cruiserweight-type matches.

4) Chavo Guerrero- Puts him on Raw to wrestle the smaller guys. Could put him in with Ziggler and Vickie.

5) Tyler Reks- Why not? Lol

To Smackdown:
1) CM Punk- Gets Punk out of the New Nexus aka the worst storyline ever. Allows for Orton to take over New Nexus (similar to DiBiase and Rhodes).

2) John Morrison- Morrison gets demoted to Smackdown but becomes the top face on the roster. With Super Cena, this is Morrison's best chance to be a top guy.

3) Daniel Bryan- They have misused this guy on Raw so they might as well move him to Smackdown and give him a chance to shine.

4) Santino Marella- I love this guy. Amazing on the mic. Not too bad in the ring either. Why doesn't he get a big push? Put him on SD and have him take the belt from Barrett.

5) Ted DiBiase- Again, has already been mentioned but having this guy as a jobber on Raw is such a waste. At least move him to SD and make him a mid-card heel.

If I were to make an inverse list, the guys who are least likely to move I'd have Del Rio second behind only Cena. I don't know what you think of Miz so I don't know if this is good or bad news but regardless of what you think of him this guy isn't going anywhere. Vince loves him, outside of Cena no one does more publicity for the company than him and in today's WWE that's perhaps more important than a guy's in-ring ability.

Orton pretty much has to move to Smackdown. With the loss of Edge and Orton/Cena just getting in each other's ways, one of them needs to make the jump. Considering Cena is the bigger star, he stays on the bigger show. Orton/Del Rio could be a really good, really long feud on Smackdown to revive the show.

Cliff Levingston would have to think about this a while longer to decide who should move and who shouldn't. There's a lot of other things they should and shouldn't do but they won't. Namely, then IC/US titles aren't nearly important enough. It used to be that just the tag titles were worthless, now the IC and US titles are. Those should be used as stepping stones to the main event and be the focus of some great mid-card feuds.

Apparently this was meant for June but because of Edge, they've been scrambling, so yes, I agree with others in this thread that most likely means a top face will be going over to SD.

Orton moving to SD is totally gonna bury punk on Raw. They will give him guys like Mark Henry.
