I'm tired of getting players and having them play out of their position. No Love at 5, no WJ at 2, no Ellington at 1. Enough of it already.

When has that happened?

A couple of times. Did you watch the final game?

You might be asking the same thing of Williams if we played him at the 3. We thought Wes was a good player when we drafted him. All we have as evidence to show whether he's a good player is a full season trying to convert him to play out of his natural position.

I don't want Williams.

But was Johnson disappointing because he was out of position, or because he doesn't have any handle or shot creation skills? Because we knew that about him when he was drafted. Would he look better playing next to a player that could give him easy looks, regardless of which wing spot he's in?

OJ Mayo is one of the best defenders in the league, hes a two way player and hes a great passer and playmaker.

He'd look better if we ran him off screens ala Reggie MIller and Hamilton instead of dumping the ball off to him and expecting him to create.

Yes, I agree that Rambis's offense is stupid.

Screens like Hamilton? No. He doesn't have the footwork for it right now. But simple back cuts to the basket, like Portland loves to do with Batum? Hell yes.

Coming off screens isn't rocket science, geeze. It's not like the guy is an uncoordinated oaf. He's shown that he can be a competent defender in this league and that takes a nimble foot. Just because he can't do much while handling the ball doesn't mean he's going to trip all over himself without it. He's got a super fast release, has good hands, and has shown that he's a capable interior passer. It seems like a no brainer to me.

In fact, I'd argue that he's so svelte he'd be able to cut the screen sharp enough that he'd get open more often than not. Even if he wouldn't be as good as Rip at it at first, there's no reason not to try it over the trash they're making him do.
