Sam Fuld has been the best player in that deal so far. He's hitting .380 with 7 stolen bases.

Also I still hate the Matt Garza trade...I think he can be great for us, but we arent going to do sh^t this season. Would much rather have Archer.

We're third in the league in average, but 19th in runs. Still not getting that clutch hit. Soriano has been our main RBI guy but he's only batting .222 with men on. Pena is trash he's hitting less than .120 with runners on compared to .353 with the bases empty.

But I feel like our main problem is the Starting Pitching. It hurt losing Wells and Cash big time. Our Starters are 27th in ERA. Our relievers are 20th. We should thank the stars we a tied for 1st because if we fon't turn this around we won't be there for long.

This is true and after researching a little I see Archers walks are up and Ks are down.

Garza can be a solid #2, if he gets run support.

Here is hoping to Trey McNutt and Cash panning out.

Also not taking many walks, as usual. It's funny, for two years (07-08) the Cubs decided they really wanted to be patient and rack up walks. A lot of us credited Fukudome with the philosophy change. Of course we made the playoffs both years.

Outside of that stretch, the Cubs have been among the worst at drawing walks for the last 20 years. It's been a systematic problem of all our hitters. Even with our star Castro, it's his biggest offensive weakness. It's what has stopped Vitters from being a star so far. Corey Patterson, Felix Pie...the list goes on. The fact that i's gone on for so long seems to indicate an organizational issue.

Of course, our pitching is the real problem right now. But I'm optimistic about the future of the rotation. Garza's strikeout rate has been insane since coming over, I'm not worrying about the hits. He'll be fine. If Wells and Cash aren't hurt too badly, it should be an average unit for the season.

Well, it's back to .500 again. This season is starting out a lot like last year, but it seems like we have a more more winnable division than last year. At least so far, no one looks dominant.
