the only problem is that the team with the "bye" will sit cold turkey for a good week and a half. that is more of a disadvantage if you ask me, but this system will make the league much more money.

More likely the WC round is 3 games, and it lets the teams with the bye set their rotation while having the WC need to use their #4 guy in game 1.

Still going to be difficult to beat out the teams in the other divisions for that spot (with the unbalanced schedule), but this will help.

Now Rogers just has to spend the cash.

The owners want it both ways and Selig is a milquetoast commish. They want the extra playoff teams and they want to keep the full 162 game season too. The season should be cut to 156 games to make room for the extra 5 game series.

this is awesome news for jays fans. i think we can all expect that we are not contending this year. but if another WC spot is added there could conceivably be 3 teams from the AL east making the playoffs. With Drabek, Romero, Morrow all hopefully improving and developing into top of the rotation starters, as well as the addition of Brett Lawrie and development of JPA, next year looks like a legit shot. Does this make it possible that Prince fielder is now on our radar?

But seriously!? 10 teams??? F*ck Selig pisses me off, why 10? Doesn't 12 teams in the playoffs make ALOT more sense? Copy the NFL playoff format. Eat **** and die Bud Selig.

I think it should be 12 teams too. The new format is going to be very strange with 8/12 of playoff teams having byes.
