Unless we get a player who can contribute immediately or has major major upside, then trade the pick. We are not in a position to have another development player or roll player. This team needs more talent, unless you wanna stay under .500 for another year. I want to be a playoff team, now!

I think we all do, unfortunately our owners are downright poor (by league standards) so expecting them trade the pick for an expensive (read anyone being paid over the rookie scale) veteran is wishful thinking.

Uh, yeah he is. His ceiling is way higher, different type of player all together, but he's got way more potential than ANY of these three. T. Jones will be 3/4 in the vein of Odom, Josh Smith, or Antawn Jamison. I think at the very least he'll be a Marvin Williams level player but I saw flashes that make me think he'll be unstoppable off the dribble at PF, be able to hold it down on help D, and also spread the floor with his shooting. What were we looking for in a player next to Cousins again?

I liked Jones a few months back, but every game I watched of him I was unimpressed. He is not an upgrade at either the 3 or the 4. I would pick Vesely or Leonard over him in the draft.

If we get #5. I would try to package it with JT to move up and grab Derrick Williams.

Don't know too much about Vesely but Leonard? Wow. We'll see.

i had the same feelings on jrue holliday 2 years ago. jrue was great only at the beggining on his college basketball, when the season progress his numbers drop. but look jrue now in the nba. jrue is much much unimpressive compared to tjones, jrue only finish 8.5 pts, 3.8 reb, 3.7 ast average in college while jones still finish 15.8 pts, 8.8 reb, 1.6 ast, 1 stl, 2 blk. (tjones last 6 games still a solid 11 pts, 8 reb, 1 stl, 2 blk, 50% fg on tougher NCAA tourney). dont forget that tjones was SEC first team all american, he also named the SEC Freshman of the Year by league coaches and SEC Newcomer of the Year by the Associated Press. favors select #3 overall pick last year because of his potential, average only 12 pts, 8 rebs and 2 blk in college. favors cant dribble, cant shoot outside, cant create his own shoot.

dont sleep on tjones yet. he had a good freshman year in college, high upside/potential and i belived he will perform well in rookie camp like what jrue holliday did.

tjones > donte greene

That's the thing I look for in players, not just potential but actual SKILL and at least some type of demonstration of that skill during the year. Especially a skill that is either elite or unusual for the type of player they are. Jones is going to make a living off the dribble in the NBA. I don't think he'll be a superstar or anything, but honestly, this draft really isn't looking like it has too many to begin with anyway. If we find a legit starting quality player that compliments the players we have and also satisfies some missing needs we should be just fine.

This could also be a year where it could work out picking a gamble type (Kanter, Biyombo, another Euro) and seeing if they pan out long term or as a trade chip in a bigger deal.

The Kings need another player that can create his own shot. DMC, Tyreke, MT23, and Beno all can create their own shot but nobody else really can. If we are going to stick to Dally as our other post player, then we need a SF that can create as well as play off the ball. I dont see TJones as that guy, just another decent 1 dimensional SF like Donte, Omri, and Cisco.

You don't really need that much more than that. Plenty of successful teams had less. The Spurs of the last decade really only had the big 3, and the 03 Spurs barely had that, since Parker and Manu were will getting into the league and the Admiral was past that point in his career. The 04 Pistons really only had Chauncey, Sheed and Corliss in that respect. The 06 Heat had Wade, Shaq, and not a whole lot else. The list goes on.

We have our two main shot creators (for themselves and others) in Tyreke and Demarcus, and we have another now in Marcus, who is looking like our go-to option in clutch situations. Omri isn't bad at it either. I think we've forgotten this a little because he was rarely in a position to do it this year. JT and Sam to a degree too. Neither is great at it, but in terms of isolation, we're talking about our 5th-7th options here.
