TPE Question

Post#1 » by geeman » Sun Apr 24, 2011 4:54 pm

If we resign J Crawford ( which I think we have to) do we have any cap space ( including the TPE) to sign or trade for a real big? I.E. maybe a Haywood type ?

Even if we don't sign Crawford, the only room we'd have is the cap exceptions. The entire thought process behind letting Crawford walk would be to stay under the LT - not the cap.

Of course, all proper caveats regarding new CBA apply here...

Under current rules - you can sign Crawford to anything you want. You have Full Bird Rights on him. Your cap situation does not matter - but Crawford's salary will be added to the cap.

I think we have to make the conference finals before re-signing Jamal becomes a likelihood. I just have a feeling that luxury tax threshold will not be exceeded unless there is a sign of the core being capable of greater than the second round.
