Brook Lopez Head-to-Head Stats.

Post#1 » by 8 Mile Ilic » Tue Apr 26, 2011 6:27 pm

There's always a lot of talk about how so-and-so shuts Brook down so I had some free time and thought I'd post a link to these:

Brook Lopez vs. Joakim Noah
Brook Lopez vs. Andrew Bogut
Brook Lopez vs. Tyson Chandler
Brook Lopez vs. Marc Gasol
Brook Lopez vs. Andrew Bynum (my favorite ;))
Brook Lopez vs. Kendrick Perkins
Brook Lopez vs. Dwight Howard

As we all know... Lopez can't touch Dwight, and Bogut and Marc Gasol play Lopez "well" but other than that... Brook still scores at a respectable rate against top tier defensive centers. He's also not routinely lit up by players with scrubby offensive games as some people like to claim :D

Well I knew by just watching the games when I clicked on Bogut it was gonna be ugly. He's the best defensive Center in the league behind Dwight.

Could you do the Dwight H2H. I'm curious even though it's probably not pretty.

I'm surprised how well he does against Perkins since Perk is probably the 3rd best post defender behind Dwight and Bogut.

For all the hate Lopez gets if he could just average 2 more rebounds per game and average 20/8 he'd probably be somewhere between the 2nd and 4th best center's in the league and only in his third year. It's amazing how just 2 rbs per game has taken him from top 3 to barely top 10 in some people's minds.

Nicely done on the thread very informative.

and a record of 9-39. Ouch. Im suprised lopez did so well against chandler but other then that those stats seem to be about what youd expect from lopez. Also Gasol really shouldnt be considered a good defender. Hes pretty mediocre on d.

Here's another telling stat: aside from Dwight and Bogut...the rebounding discrepancy between what Lopez got and what his "man" got...not much.

What makes it even more impressive is that with the exception of his rookie year those teams with the great defenders I linked to... Game planned SPECIFICALLY to stop Lopez.

People like to use the "good stats on a bad team" argument but often fail to realize that a good player on a bad team is going to receive more attention than he would on a good team. So if that player is scoring efficiently in many ways his stats on his current bad team are more impressive than what they would be if he were on a good team.

@ CoolKids: Congratulations on that brilliant first round series the Knicks played. After that sweep it's obvious that Amar'e was right... THE KNICKS ARE BACK

The reason why Marc Gasol matches up well against Brook is because neither are exceptionally fleet of foot and he holds his ground well.

It was almost as entertaining as your playoff series....oh wait.
And anyone who watched that series would know if Billups had played and amare was healthy we would have won at least 2 games. But I like how you decide to try and start an argument about the knicks when I did nothing but comment on the topic posted. Cute. Well then I guess. your saying David Lee was really an all star caliber player too. Interesting.

Why so serious? I was complimenting the Knicks on a job well done. I know the Nets overachieved they won as many playoff games as the mighty Knicks and they don't have any superstar while the Knicks have 2 SUPERSTARS.

Yeah, you could've left him alone man lol. It's not like he came on here flamin'.

Anyway, I'm not surprised to see this because I already knew that Lopez only really struggled against two guys: Howard and Bogut. And this is why I pegged him as the 3rd/4th best center in the league. I'm not worried about his rebounding considering that he had mono and a calcium deposit in his arm. He'll raise his value again next year and will be fine.

Lopez was always on the inferior team so the record shouldn't surprise anyone. He could have exploded for 50 and still wouldn't beaten the Lakers.

Thats the optimism I like to see. I am very excited about this summer and next season. Lopez is going to get physically get stronger and quicker. When his athleticism improves he will be an elite center, it may take a couple of years though.

IIRC, Hibbert seems to eat his lunch on most occasions too, sort of odd.

I would love to see the head to head on that matchup.

It's Magic when Hibbert plays Lopez. I remember that game where HIbbert hit a three-pointer like it was yesterday.

Hibbert has done very well against Brook recently.

And is it also not true that you guys got swept also?

But 8 mile shouldn't have said that, you were trying to get in on a discussion it's just that you started it off wrong.

Yes, it is but it's kinda irrelevant when you're doing head to head matchups especially when Lopez has been the main option on a bad team most of the time that he's been on the league. Are you going to blame Kevin Love for his W/L record against other PFs? No, because it's a team game and Love does more than his fair share rebounding and through offense (although his defense is putrid). The most important thing is that Lopez is playing well against better centers while being the main option that teams seek to shut down. That's respectable.

I don't know that it's irrelevant, but there was an obvious trash talking undertone to the way it was said.

It's pretty much as if I came on the Knix board in a thread and instead of saying, "the Knicks haven't won a playoff game in a decade.", I instead said, "Knicks whooped again. Lulz."

It's not even a big deal, but I see no reason to defend one's self when obvious troll is outed as obvious.

Obvious Troll is Obvious Troll. Trust me I'm the one man Nets Board Defense Force. I've seen this individual's posts before and they don't pass the smell test.

Now carry on young whippersnappers. I have a board to protect.

CoolKids' trash talking isn't even subtle. He pretty much came here to troll. And then acts surprised when he's called out for it.
