11 sacks last year. How did he last so long?

Biography: Three-year starter awarded all-Conference honors as a senior after totaling 49/13/11. Junior totals included 44/11.5/10.5.

Positives: "Productive college pass rusher with marginal size/speed numbers. Breaks down well, plays with good pad level, and gets off the snap with a quick first step. Uses his hands to protect himself, changes direction well, and keeps his feet driving up the field on contact. Deceptively strong, holds his ground against blocks, and flashes speed off the edge. Plays with good balance and works hard."

Negatives: Slow regaining playing form off the initial block. Has marginal closing burst and displays limited ability in pursuit.

Analysis: Elmore was a productive three-year starter and who made a lot of plays behind the line of scrimmage for Arizona. He lacks the size to line up in a three-point stance at the next level and does not possess the speed to be an outside linebacker. Elmore projects as a nickel pass rusher who could develop into a defensive end as he fills out his frame.

Projection: 5-6

Ricky Elmore's Facebook page says he "is the best pass-rushing DE/OLB hybrid available in the 2011 #NFL Draft."

03/15/11 - Arizona Pro day: Even though Jacksonville used its first four selections in the 2010 draft addressing its front four, defensive line coach Joe Cullen worked out Arizona DE Ricky Elmore during the school’s pro day Saturday. Elmore put up 21.5 sacks over the past two seasons and met again with Cullen after the event, which was attended by 28 teams, including Browns LB coach Bill Davis. In total, 22 prospects were in attendance and performed outdoors, on FieldTurf. Elmore (6-4 5/8, 256) ran a 4.86 and 4.83 40, a 4.58 short shuttle and 7.29 three-cone. He had a 34 1/2 vertical and 9-7 broad jump. - Gil Brandt, NFL.com

12/29/10 - PLAYERS TO WATCH: DE Ricky Elmore leads the Pac-10 with 11 sacks, one season after finishing second with 10.5. He's a high-energy end who isn't a fearsome physical specimen, but he's quick and smart and plays with great technique. - The Sports Xchange

Elmore has great intangible qualities and should provide some value with his pass rushing ability and hustle. However, he does not possess enough strength in the running game or elite athleticism to be considered a future starter. Can get off the ball, occasionally turn the corner, and close on the quarterback but won't set up his man, counter, or use the bull rush. Has a motor that doesn't stop and will make some plays chasing ball carriers down the line but is a liability when run at and can be a tick late to find the football. Elmore carries a late-round grade.

Can't wait to see what this guy can do with Kevin Greene and Clay helping him along.

If his vertical is that high, he can end up a lot more explosive off the edge. This is a ridiculously awesome sleeper pick. Enormous upside.

probably a 3rd down specialist to bring in opposite clay? like a cheap KGB.
