The coaching staff loves Zombo. It's essentially his job to lose.

My prediction is that to start the season Zombo and Walden share time and then by the end of the season Elmore will be starting because of a combination of injuries and improvement.

Yup, I think it's Zombo's to lose. And I don't think he'll lose it by the time we get underway.

OLB by committee. Zombo will technically be there starter, though.

The staff loves them some Zombo......I think pass rush is an issue this year.

So you expect Clay and Raji to be hurt?

zombo or jones starts -probably zombo
Walden or Elmore in nickel --probably walden can cover better as well as rush

I honestly think it comes down to:

1) how the lockout plays out (i.e., when will training camp start)
2) overall health during training camp/preseason
3) overall health during the regular season

As others have said, the staff seems to love Zombo (although it felt like MM/Capers were getting a bit pissy about Zombo's inability to stay on the field), but like DB, I actually like what I saw from Walden the most. Depending on #1/#2, elmore may not have any shot, but I'm excited to see what he's got.

I'll play odds maker instead:
40% Big Z
40% Walden
12% Brad Jones
8% Elmore

Didn't the staff say Walden had earned the starting spot even if Zombo were healthy (in the weeks leading up to the SB)?

I feel like Brad Jones is a longshot to make the roster.

I thought he had, but I think those conversations were laced with the mantra, "until Zombo proves that he can stay on the field, we need to roll with the players that have proven they can"

so it might not have been such an endorsement of Walden as it was a critique of Z's inability to remain healthy. Regardless, it'll definitely be an open competition in camp. I was just thinking, it's a bit interesting that Ricky Elmore will actually be the highest pick of this group.

New question to pose to the group, say all of these gentleman (jones, walden, z, Elmore) came out in the same draft class, who gets picked first/who has the best raw talent?

Voted Walden, also because of bears game. It was like I got drunk (because i did) saw something new durring a very emotional time (pack vs bears for playoff spot) and there was Walden when i needed him most, keeping me from dying reaching for some heart pills. So i may be biased.

I also still have the Bears game in my head.

Walden looks legit and solid,if not him though I'd say Zombo but my money is on Walden.

A year ago who ever heard of Zombo or Walden. It's over 4 months until the season starts. Lots of variables. The spot is wide open and anyone can claim it.
