Per Twitter: Pacers reaching out to Spurs Assistant GM...

Don't have a name all I got is that they are looking at the Spurs Assistant GM for our GM position here and Bird would relinquish some control if they hired this guy. Don't have a name or anything, just what I read on twitter.

I'd be a little worried if I was David Morway. Simon has great respect for Larry Bird, and wouldn't be searching for a replacement before he had sorted out Bird's situation. I think this is a nod that Bird is to remain, but may need some more help.

speculating but I'd guess they might have just been looking for a Plan B in case Bird said his wife didn't want him back or that he didn't want to come back unless he had a green light to spend a certain amount and Herb said no.

Since Bird is still waiting on his meeting with Simon, it wouldn't make sense if Bird interviewed anybody.

I'd speculate Simon is preparing for Bird to relinquish a lot of time-consuming responsibilities. I'm pretty sure Larry received a small chunk of ownership. If he doesn't cash-out, his interest will lie here, and he'll serve as a powerful consultant, from a golf course in Florida.

I like Walsh or Pritchard if we replace Morway, and I could probably get behind anybody related to the Spurs. Not so much Mullin though.

I also think Simon will have a say with Frank Vogel. Let's face it, the guy was a 3rd assistant before he achieved interim status..... Would Frank be satisfied with the title of 'Associate Head Coach'? In other words, would Frank be happy with a reduced role? He may not have a choice, unless someone like Golden State gives him a shot..

Is Vogel a legitimate prospect for a team like the Warriors or Utah? Has he become a hot commodity? The moment we reach out to potential coaches, Vogel hits the market... We better tread wisely.
