It got more media exposure and became more accessible to everybody with the internet being a great source to express yourself. Unfortunately, more people (especially my generation) are more into club songs that are catchy and make you dance. Which is more unfortunate as there are really talented musicians/bands out there who are just not getting the exposure they deserve.
