I'm not even excited for this game, even if we win it we have to win in Dallas on Friday. I think statistically teams who win Game 3 usually go on to win the series when tied 1-1. I don't have the exact stat but it feels that way. Of course if we lose this game then kiss our season goodbye.

Usually teams that win any playoff game when the series is tied, wins the series. But I'll agree that Friday is the big deal,.

You sure know how to suck the life out of this forum sometimes..

Coming in, I'm sure Dallas would have been more than content in getting the split while moving home for the 2, but its about taking things 1 game at a time in the playoffs. I'm not even thinking about game 3 and neither should anyone else.

If the Lakers come out and win game 2, last nights effort would be an after thought. But first comes securing and playing game 2 like it matters. Not just building a lead and giving it away. I have confidence in our guys. Last nights loss was a little demoralizing, I'll be honest. But this series is far from over. That you better believe. NOW BREATHE!!!!!

Men, we are on the plain where our forefathers sweat their balls off to ensure the legacy of our people. We have arrived at the doorstep of Kings. Battles have been won and lost, and after a strong show of resolve after the break of celestial performers, we faltered in our recent conflict.

Image

Image

Ok, maybe faltered isn’t a good enough word. We gave up a 16-point lead and switched roles with the Mavericks. Let’s just be honest. That was some bull.

Just disgusting. Are we to let something like this discourage us? Surely our testicles (and Pau’s as well) exist in the land that Tupacrates built! As Laker Warriors, are we the ones to hand our third great victory championship to that wretched insect from the East? I for one will be damned! Revenge begins tonight, and we will NOT allow them to emerge victorious! Time and energy is on our side!

Image

After making our way through the Regular Season, it appears that we have become rather lackluster at the end of battles. It has reached the point where our enemies both past (the Hornets) and present (the Mavs) have grown expectant of victory!

Let’s face it; we are NOT consistent anymore!

Image

However…

Do not let the splendid play of Dirk Nowitzki fool you men! We may be outnumbered, outhustled and outscored, but our fighting spirits are stronger! Only a champion forces a force greater than theirs to struggle to match our power! Continuing with the vein of underdog victories this year, they surprised us in our last battle, and yet we battled them to a standstill, before a critical series of errors gave them the victory.

I’m looking at you, Pau.

Image

Did Game 1 torture us? Absolutely, but are we to retreat into the obscurity of a shocked team? NO! We will fight hard in the days in between, and come back strong! Led by the excellence of Kobe Bryant, the resurgent Andrew Bynum and Lamar Odom, we will line up for what many thought will be our last stand, and WE WILL WIN!!!!

Men of Los Angeles....

WE MUST ATTACK XERXES WITH A HURRICANE OF SPARTAN WILL!

Do we allow foreigners to come into our land and desecrate what we hold dear to us? Some say that a comeback is madness. I say to he that utter this blasphemy......NEVER! THIS IS LOS ANGELES!!

[youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QkWS9PiXekE[/youtube]

Terry: Choose your next words carefully, Kobe. They may be your last as Finals MVP.
Kobe Bryant: [to himself: thinking] "Failure and loss"?
[Kobe unsheathes and points his sword at the Maverick’s throat]
Terry: Madman! You're a madman!
Kobe Bryant: Failure and loss? You'll find plenty of both here.
Terry: No man, Laker or Spur, no man threatens a Hornet!
Kobe Bryant: You bring the banners and rings of retired champions to my city steps. You emasculate my Power Forward. You threaten my people with shame and failure! Oh, I've chosen my words carefully, Hornet. Perhaps you should have done the same!
Terry: This is blasphemy! This is madness!
Kobe Bryant: Madness...?
[shouting]
Kobe Bryant: This is LOS ANGELES!

Peja A thousand odds of Bourbon Street descend upon you. Our three pointers will blot out the sun!
Odom: Then we will dance in the post!

Image

WE WILL NOT ALLOW THEM TO TAKE IT AWAY FROM US!! WE HAVE COME TOO FAR TO TURN BACK NOW!!!

Kobe, the entire Laker Nation cries out to you. It is upon your shoulders to guide us to the promised land. Listen to those calling out for the heads of you and your men. Our march cannot end empty-handed! You must wake up and flood the Staples Center with your greatness if we are to rise again among the Champions! Pau has his many excuses (a vagina), but you have none! The entire team is on your back! You are our champion Kobe! You must reawaken! Now is the time!!

Kobe Bryant: Lakers! Prepare for glory!

Chandler: Glory? Have you gone mad? There is no glory to be had now! Only retreat, or surrender or death!
Kobe Bryant: Well, that's an easy choice for us, Hornet! We Lakers never retreat! We Lakers never surrender! Go spread the word. Let every Warrior assembled know the truth of this. Let each among them search his own soul. And while you're at it, search your own!

Even as we look deep into the eyes of defeat, we must hold our ground! We no longer have the protection of our homeland on our backs, for we are in enemy territory now! This is easily the most hostile territory for a Laker Warrior to be in, as the war between the feuding tribes has stretched back to the days of our forefathers. We cannot allow these brutes to taste victory from our hands! Don't give them any breathing room!
Do we really want to lose to this?!?!

Really?

I'll be damned!

Kidd: All that God-King Cuban requires is this: a simple offering of earth and water. A token of Los Angeles' submission to the will of Blackman.
Kobe Bryant: Submission? Well that's a bit of a problem. See, rumor has it the Blazers have already turned you down, and if those former contenders and, uh, floppers have found that kind of nerve, then...
Gasol: We must be diplomatic.
Kobe Bryant: [ignoring Gasol] ... and, of course, Lakers have their reputation to consider.

There is no peace unless victory is attained. We must fight to win this game, for the odds are truly against us from the outset.

Image

Brandon Haywood: Lakers, lay down your weapons!
[a spear flies out and impales him through the chest, and he falls out of the saddle, severely spraining his ankle]
Kobe Bryant: Bastard chokers! Come and get them!

Teams leading 2-1 go on to win the series 82.2% of the time.

Also if you want to even look further ahead
Leading 3-1: 151-8 (0.950)
Leading 3-2: 124-35 (0.780) (Does not include teams who were already up 3-0, 3-1)

I didn't watch the game due to an island wide power outage, but it seems to me like the Lakers controlled the game until the last parts of the 3rd and the entire 4th. Seriously, we had a 16 point lead, As long as the Lakers can do what they did for the first 3 quarters, they will be fine.

Dallas is 3-0 at home in the playoffs, so you might say that Dallas will probably go up 3-1 when we play in Dallas. Now, Lakers are a significantly better team on the road than Portland. All the Lakers need to do is take one in Dallas and they have home court back.

You're overreacting, the sky isn't falling yet.

I think we'll bounce back and take a game in Dallas, but the way we've played so far in the post-season is very discouraging. I was hoping to see some positive signs that would lead me to believe we'll be the team standing at the end, but I've seen nothing from these guys.

Kobe is just too old to carry this team the way he did in the past, and his ability to close out tight games is quickly fading. I don't know what's up with Pau, but he's declined big time. He looks old, weak, and at times disinterested. As a team we're just playing some really crappy basketball, and part of that has to do with some really crappy coaching. We looked sloppy last night outside of that 2nd quarter, and there is no excuse for letting a team like the Mavs come in and win 3 of 4 quarters in the series opener.

I'll give Bynum and Ron passes because they've been really consistent for us so far, and it wasn't really their fault that we lost. Our bench and some shady coaching is what ultimately cost us, not to mention Kobe and Pau being about as unclutch as you can possibly be in the closing minute.

I guess we'll see what happens. I picked the Lakers in 6, but it wouldn't shock me if we were taken out in 6 either.

Get this one & take it 1 game at a time. This dysfunctional team is usually more focused on the road anyway so as long as we get this 1 i'm not worried.

Could have won game 1, should have won game 1. Got up big and let up.

Don't let up = win the series.

Interesting take on what to do against Nowitzki - even though he's not really responsible for Game 1's loss.

We also need to pound the ball inside to Bynum. Dude probably has the matchup that is the most at our advantage (well, Kobe's too), and he only took 8 shots!

Yet again our own stupidity cost us game 1 period. As coaches and players (particularly the guards) they are to blame for not playing to our advantage and forcing us to play inside out.

No way in hell a jump shooting team would overtake a team with the inside scoring potential that we have. Chandler should be pounded and forced into foul trouble (especially at home) and then we'd get a parade to the basket. That's how its supposed to work. Instead, Kobe comes out trying to get himself going but like always f ups his own mojo by taking lower and lower percentage shots. I would not care if he took 50 shots, if they were good ones but way too many of them are low %, even for him.

Zero assists is pathetic. He chooses to be a one trick pony and it hurts us because his shots are jumpers and this means less shots at the rim from our bigs (who shoot a higher %). How PJax or him don't see it and change it is beyond me. Good sh*t happens when he drives and gets in the paint but he is so freakn stubborn that he continues to chuck away. 36 pts on 29 shots is not good IMO (and 9 3 ptrs).

If Kobe and the guards want to live by the jumper we will lose this series because Dallas is a much better shooting team than we are. We'll die by the jumper.

Listen to Hubie, listen to Kerr... and pound them inside for christ's sake.

I think we were trying to pound it inside, but for the most part our bigs got out-muscled when we were feeding the post. Both Pau and Bynum were getting pushed off the block and couldn't seem to maintain their position, which is sad considering that they are going up against Chandler and friggin' Dirk. Gasol (especially) has done an extremely poor job of getting post position.

Other than that, our bench has shown an inability to feed the post all season long. Barnes and Brown seem scared of making an entry pass, and Steve Blake just likes to run around the court without any real purpose. I have no idea how we've managed to become this inept, but blame has to go on the coaching staff. Bench play really killed us last night, in addition to a lack of adjustments by Phil and co.

Just win this, and don't give up huge leads. Pau made some great passes but the last thing we need from him is to be passive, honestly he needs to take 20 shots and we need drew to take around 15 for us to win, Kobe was hot last game so we can't complain about him shooting 29 shots, that turnover in the end killed us though.. but Pau commited the turnover and the dumb foul so he needs to show up but the way he's been playing this offseason I'm not expecting him to

Pau is clearly not the best choice to defend Dirk, why not try a Odom/Bynum starter frontcourt?
Dirk is too fast when on the outside, and too powerful when in the inside. Even if Lamar still is weaker inside, he can at least matchup with Dirk's quickness and close out on him.

honestly when are people going to get off this feed the bigs crap? it seems like they have been fooled by the media or something. kobe is still our best and most important player. last night our bigs didn't assert themselves enough for me. we get into deep trouble when we force feed them. bynum get's a pass because he has been great for the most part in the playoffs but i am tired of pau getting the ball just to hold on to it(draining clock) and then swing it out with just a few seconds left on the clock. he got handled by jumpshooting dirk yesterday and there is no excuse for that. our bigs are definately an advantage but they should also try and be an advantage in rebounding, blocked shots, and defense. kobe's pass was a BIG mistake but pau's foul on dirk on an inbound pass, that is just unacceptable.i have enough faith in them that i believe they are going to correct it,but at times this can be so frustrating.
Only on realgm is 27,000 points, 5 rings, 1 rs mvp and 2 finals mvp considered overrated!
