CIA Bounce and Team Takeover Canada appear to be the same team. They have changed the name and go by CIA Bounce for some reason now. The team appears to consist of players located just outside of Toronto. A lot of our players are now playing in leagues outside of Toronto which is why they are so good.

Grassroots Canada is for players who are from Toronto/Brampton. Ro Russell coaches this team.

I am pretty sure players can choose what team they want to play for though.

They can choose whichever team. There is also Northern Kings another big one.

CIA Bounce and TTC are the same thing, they used to be seperate and merged so for certain tournaments they use different names. There is also team takeovers for different states too (team takeover DC etc.) so maybe when bounce entered the Nike EYBL tournament which had other takeover teams they made them use Bounce.

Andrew Wiggins was the top overall prospect at this event, and possibly in all of North America for his age group. This week provided an interesting opportunity to (again) evaluate him at an early stage in his development.

Wiggins has terrific physical attributes for a 16 year old, standing 6-7 with a great frame and smooth athleticism. He has the look of a top-shelf prospect, even if his skill-level is still catching up to his physical tools (as one would expect considering his age).

Wiggins is currently at his best in transition. He has the ability to get to the rim effortlessly and finishes with excellent extension around the basket, sometimes using his body to shield opponents. He makes plays that other players his age simply can't make thanks to his athleticism. He regularly goes out of his area for rebounds and plays in the passing lanes. He plays with intensity.

In the half-court, Wiggins is still a work in progress. He has average ball-handling skills and is a streaky overall shooter, even though it's clear that he's improved his jumper since the last time we saw him. To his credit, he doesn't force the issue very much and has a nice feel for the game.

Defensively, Wiggins has outstanding physical attributes and shows a solid commitment to making his presence felt. He has the size and strength to defend most big men and the length and athleticism to stay in front of perimeter players - something that is a huge advantage at this level.

He was impressive in the game itself as well, scoring 21 points on 9-16 shooting and grabbing 10 rebounds, which proves the hype around him is clearly not unfounded.

Wiggins obviously has a long ways to go, but there's plenty to be optimistic about moving forward if he continues to work hard and stays humble.

They list Wiggins as attending Christian Faith Center Academy (NC). Has he officially decided to move to the US?

Kyle Wiltjer, 6-10, Power Forward
Committed to Kentucky, Canada

Walker Beeken

After a solid week in Chicago for the McDonald's game, Canadian big man Kyle Wiltjer showed his strengths and weaknesses in Portland for the 2011 Nike Hoop Summit. During the first couple days of practice, he clearly had trouble with the length of fellow World Team members Bismack Biyombo and Lucas Nogueira during practice when working in the post. As the week went on, however, Wiltjer adjusted and moved his game away from the basket and took advantage of his high skill level, scoring efficiently and draining perimeter jumpers during their first scrimmage.

Wiltjer is very skilled and fundamentally sound big man, highlighted by his ability to score from the perimeter and in the post. He showed a variety of moves with his back to the basket, utilizing good footwork, and converting hook shots and using fakes leading to counter moves

When facing up, he has range out past the 3-point arc, and even showed that he's capable of putting the ball on the floor smoothly and creatively to get to the basket or free himself for jump-shots. Continuing to develop his post game at the college level and learning how to score against longer, more athletic players will be a big key for his future, as he struggled at times during the week and against the USA players in the game on Saturday night. His scoring instincts are outstanding, though, so it might be just a matter of time.

While it seems likely that Wiltjer will be able to score effectively at Kentucky, we didn't see much from him as a passer, and it will be interesting to see how he fits playing alongside other talented players and capable scorers. He shot 5-15 in the game at the Hoop Summit and went 2-6 from 3-point range in 23 minutes of action, taking more attempts from the field and from 3-point range than any other player in the game. If he can learn to play a bit more within himself and utilize his teammates better, it will only enhance what we've already seen from him as a scorer.

Wiltjer's progress on the defensive end will also be a big factor in his future development, as he lacks the lateral quickness to defend face-up power forwards, and may struggle inside to defend NBA centers. He does seem to have excellent intangibles, though, with a great attitude and terrific work ethic, so he'll be a player we'll be watching more during his career at Kentucky.

Kevin Pangos, 6-1, Point Guard
Committed to Gonzaga, Canada

Walker Beeken

Canadian point guard Kevin Pangos, who had previously played for Nike Hoops Summit Coach Roy Rana in the U-17 World Championships last year, was selected for the World Team based on his ability to run a team, take care of the basketball, make open shots, and get his teammates involved.

Unfortunately, Pangos ended looking a bit overmatched against the athleticism of Team USA, having a tough time getting the World Team into their offense, particularly early on in the game, ending up shooting 1-6 from the field and committing two turnovers in 16 minutes of action.

Pangos performed better in the practice sessions we saw, looking like the solid, mistake-free point guard that he was billed to be coming into the event. He looks to have great intangibles, as he seemed like a very hard worker and was a vocal leader all week.

As a floor general, Pangos does a great job of executing offensively, rarely forcing the issue and generally playing very unselfishly. His lack of burst prevents him from creating his own shot effectively, but he does a nice job of picking his spots and driving when the opportunity presents itself. He's also a very good shooter with his feet set out past the 3-point line, which helps keeps the defense honest.

Pangos will always likely be somewhat limited due to his physical profile, as he stands at 6'1” with a wingspan less than six feet, and has only average speed and explosiveness. He is a very competitive defender, but there are some question marks about his ability to guard bigger and more athletic players at his position. His intangibles and skill set bode well for an excellent college career, though, where he'll be attending Gonzaga next season and playing for Coach Mark Few.

A new feature we will be running on Flagrant Fouls is a video spotlight of younger players. The segment will highlight their strengths and show some video evidence to support that. Without further ado I introduce you to St.Mikes PG Malcolm DuViver:

On Khem Birch's link in the first post (OP) : on the shirt he wears it's written : (L)ebron James kills academy.
"But the thing is, maybe I do want to wake up one morning and say, `Baby, let's go to the Bahamas. Today.' That costs money. So what if I want to do that?

He's clearly spent countless hours in the gym working as hard as possible at being large and slow.

That guy is hilariously big. It looks like he is playing against elves. I hope he redshirts first year at X and spends a full 5 years there. Even if he makes it to the pros his knees will be wasted within 5 years and he'll need the degree as backup..

Pangos is built in the Scott Skiles mold... problem is, cerebral, non-athletic, short PGs could find spot on a roster back in the 80s and 90s, but not in today's NBA.

Dan Dickau is a good example of a player who just couldn't make it as he was way over matched athletically in the NBA.

^ He would have a better chance if he was around 6"2 with a standing reach a little above 8ft but hes far from it.

Re: HS - Player Spotlight 2014 G from Oakville Anthony Pate

Over the next few weeks we plan to release some video introductions of some names to get familiar with in the Canadian class of 2014. We started a few days ago with these clips of Malcolm Duvivier. Next on the list is the leader of Grassroots Canada 15u, Anthony Pate. Anthony is a great scorer with a tremendous work ethic who keeps getting better every time we take him in. His stock is on the rise and it will be reflected in our newest rankings. We placed him at #10 in our first addition of the 2014 rankings. Now that we've seen more of these youngsters play, we've come to realize it wasn't high enough.
