Two Cardinals in this top 5...don't really like that.

Post#1 » by ntorvik » Thu May 5, 2011 2:06 pm

So Lance Berkman is still on top of this list, and I guess I really can't argue. I like looking at this kind of stuff. I feel like there needs to be more time in between some of these stats just because the players didn't even play 3 games, some of them, in between, but whatever. Anyways, have you all looked at these? I think Bautista and Berkman could be switched, but other than that it's pretty solid. I don't know if a guy like Stephen Drew should be on this list instead of a more productive player (e.g. Ryan Howard, maybe Brandon Phillips), but hopefully that works itself out. What do you guys think?

Wow, isn't it amazing how Lance Berkman can get his bat speed back just like that. I wonder how he did it.

Wow lance really picked it up. Over the last couple of years he just never returned from his premier form until this year hopefully he can keep it up. This was a great pick for the cardinals now they have pujols, berkman and holliday providing the big O unfortunately next year i have no idea if they will sign pujols for that substantial amount. Anyways i pretty much agree with the list except that berkman should probably be switched with bautista because bautista has not had as much opportunities as berkman. Bautista always hits solo home runs because no one gets on base for him. The man gives his whole team a chance to drive in runs hence the 30 walks and adam lind's 27 rbi's. He is just too good. Every pitcher in the league gives him the barry bonds treatment and he has proven to be the best player of the month hence the player of the month award. So far bautista is a beast he is hitting the long ball, driving in runs, stealing bases and making runs as well with all those patient walks. He should be no.1

Bautista hasn't done anything "in the last few games" because he hasn't been in the lineup; he strained his neck. He wasn't exactly in a slump prior to that, as his OPS hovered around 1.300 through the last week of April. Somewhat silly that the author didn't catch that and predicted that he would "turn it around tonight" (on the 5th) when he isn't going to be playing until the weekend.

Bautista has a very weak roster to work with..... he is probably the most pure home run hitter in the AL rite now..... he doesn't have the most rite now, but he scares the pitchers the most.

argueably the most feared hitter in the AL (from a pitchers view)

look at his walks

I'm willing to go farther then that. Jose Bautista is the best hitter in the world right now. I'm not a Jays fan, but living in Toronto I watch him a lot. This season his approach has been Bonds-lite, he seems to never chase a bad pitch. His contract is going to look like a steal.

Bautista is the best hitter and hopefully the next set of rankings will show that. I don't see why he couldn't replicate his season from last year, it's just kind of ridiculous that the guy is hitting .370 right now with 16 home runs, but he only has 27 RBI. They just can't get on base in front of him! Which is always a problem.
