George already hard at work

"Great to see @King24George already working on his game. If there was a 2010 re-draft I think he'd go 3 behind Wall & Cousins. He's special"

Chad Ford on George, he's already working at the draft camp getting ready for next season.

Kid will be special.

Great to hear!

Honestly, when I heard the O.J. Mayo trade fell through, I wasn't all that upset. It might have been nice temporarily, but for the long-term, I'd rather stick with George. He's already above and beyond defensively over Mayo. Glad the trade fell through and glad to hear that George is this committed to his game.

I think Monroe would've gone ahead, but, eh, whatever. He would be top 5 for sure. We've been getting some good value for our asset and picks these past few summers. Hopefully it continues.

Long term, he's probably moving to the 3....thats why they looked at the Mayo deal.

Or Mayo could be our sixth man... Or Mayo could start for a year and let George grow as the first option of our bench brigade.

He's called himself a SG, management sees him as a SG.

Mayo has a skillset this team lacks (creating his own shot) that's why we went after him.

You know we may be a team without a superstar and a true franchise turning #1 option, but I think with Collison, George, Granger, Hansbrough, and Hibbert as our starting five now and into the future, we got a starting lineup that together can really turn heads and be a 42+ winning team next year.

Bird said he believed that Mayo could be an 18 ppg scorer on the Pacers so chances are that if we got him, George would eventually move to the 3 after moving Danny (if we were to trade him ofc). You dont say you were planning on a young guy being a 18ppg scorer and only plan on him doing that for you for 1 or 2 years (however long you were planning on letting George grow on the bench) when management is also skyhigh on another guy who you think plays the same position. Doesnt add up man. PG needs to become more consistent with his 3pt% to become a legit 2 because his size and ability to get to the basket makes him more ideal for the 3.

I don't want to see Danny go. If we decide that is the thing to do, I am sure he will have plenty of suitors. For what he brings to the table, his 12-14 million yearly salary is a borderline bargain. Hell, 14 million a year would barely put Danny in the top 30 salaries in the league (this year). I would imagine we could get good value out of Danny assuming nothing crazy happens such as a freak injury or a trade demand (not like Danny). I still would like to keep Danny. Paul and Danny at the 2 and 3 is attractive to me.

I'm ok with adding a guy like OJ Mayo, and don't see it as setting Paul George back. Danny will pretty much play the 3 and a little 4 the rest of his career, Paul will play the 2 and the 3, and Mayo will play mostly 2 with a little 1 here and there. I see no reason that you couldn't have those 3 guys handle most of the 96 minutes a night at the swing positions (which are pretty interchangeable), with Mayo handling a few at the 1 and Danny a few at the 4, thus allowing guys like Dahntay Jones or Brandon Rush a few minutes to do their defensive thing as well.

I think skill sets are a thing to look at, and what we need to focus on. We need one or two guys who can create off the dribble and get their own shots. They don't have to be great, but useful. Guys like Jason Terry would be great veteran fits, but guys like OJ Mayo could be cost affordable options who could still grow with this franchise long-term.

I don't want to divert our attention from what we really need which is a young Dale Davis. a big strong rebounder and defender who can play both 4 and 5 and will let Hibbert be the scorer like Rik.

I agree. I just don't see one really in the league, let alone one that's attainable.

Sadly, I have to agree. The guys who could concievably be available (Jefferson, Nene, Chandler) are long shots without either breaking the bank or giving up a core player. And its probably not prudent for the Pacers to do either.

A much less exciting but practical off season approach could be bring back Jeff Foster and import Stanko Barac to back up Roy. Bring back McRoberts. Look for a ball handling 2 who can play some at the point (Mayo, Thornton). Improvement would have to come from the development of the core of young players. If our picks aren't used to get Mayo (an unlikely scenario) get another guy who can play.

opinions on Biyombo are all over the place. perhaps he'll be there. if not, maybe one of the other Euro's would work.

maybe someone above us would swap picks if we took on a contract. Kanter would fit.

maybe one of our centers stashed in Euro has game and is ready to be bought out of his current deal.

and if all else fails trading for a journeyman center while resigning Jeff could do it. keeping Josh may be tough so maybe Jeff plays more four. and if we can keep Josh, maybe he spends the summer in the weight room.

From everything that we've seen so far, it all indicates that he may become a real special player. Major props to the Pacers drafting department for seeing his talent and taking the "risk". Only if we can give him some help, we may seriously be looking at some real good days coming up for this franchise.
