Artest was playing 30 minutes a game, so Odom isn't taking those minutes, it means more Shannon, Barnes, and even Walton. It also likely means more Kobe at the 3, which plays into Dallas' hands. It lets them put their best defender (Marion) on Kobe and makes it easier for them to go small which has been very effective against LA.

Barnes is a downgrade from Artest defensively, who has actually done a good job on Dallas' shooters. Look how he blocked Peja on two three point attempts and clearly took him out of the game. And Shannon and Luke are clearly garbage.

Few thoughts

- Not only was it dirty but there were 20 something seconds left in a blowout
- Agreed with above poster. This will be a blessing for the Lakers because now more minutes for Odom and Barnes who can actually make outside shots to spread the Dallas defense
