Felton has no real resign value either, so Chauncey's age matters even less.

Agreed. At worst Billups/Felton was an even swap for the Knicks and in reality a swap in NY's favor.

With Billups decline and injuries this year Denver easily won the Felton for Billups part of the deal. While Billups has a great rep, and Felton's rep sucks, they are close to the same player this year with Felton being healthier and still a better defender.

Felton is hot garbage.

They wanted Harrington gone, and to a lesser extent, Birdman and even that didn't fly.

And I fully understand Dwight **** on Melo as a player, but compare Hedo and Arenas to a contract like Harrington, Birdman, or hell, Mehmet Okur.

Yeah VC but what your forgetting is that's our leverage to obtain Dwight. We can't offer the best package for him so our ability to absorb Hedo puts us right up near the top.

Honestly the only other teams that can give us a run for our money is OKC and LAC. They can offer young talent and take back Hedo. Teams like LA and CHI can offer a nice package around Bynum and Noah but can't give relief.

But what VC is saying is that all of these other teams were told "No, we'll do this deal. Take it or leave it". If the next best offer from another team doesn't have them taking back any bad contracts, why should the Nets do it unless it's an absolute necessity. You only do it if you have to. BK could say to the Magic, "What we've given you is enough." Orlando would have to call his bluff and say "no take more" and BK would have to decide whether they really want to give up more. Just because Orlando wants something doesn't mean they'll get it. You have to remember that Orlando is the one that is desperate, not us. They're the ones who'll really be forced to make a deal. If other teams are willing to take back contracts, then we'll be willing as well. There's no need to rush to be the first in line. As we saw in the Carmelo deal, they're not going to be in a rush to get rid of Howard. They're going to try to nickel and dime us and play games to make us think that our offer was terrible and that we have to offer much more. We need to negotiate, not just take one up the butt.
