In that case, can you just leave it at 14 picks per day instead of 15??Because by making it 15, you've set me to wake up at 4:30 for my picks. 5 am (the original time, based on your original official schedule) is really early, but if there was no other way around it, I could have tried to make it work. But moving it back by an extra half hour it completely removes even a remote chance of me being able to choose my own picks.

PK5 wrote:For the most part, I can be here at any time from 4 PM to 1 AM. But the majority of it isn't about me...it's about what I told everyone else when they signed up.

First of all, I'm not mad man. I'm just frustrated. I really enjoy fantasy basketball, and was a big player for about 4-5 years. Then I got a job that demands a lot of hours from me, and on top of that I have the time zone problem to deal with. Fantasy basketball internationally isn't very difficult, until the draft though, so I had a friend (also international, set it up so people from around the world could participate) It was at around 10 pm my time, and 1 pm in the states. Fair for everyone.

Anyways, I'm just trying to make a minor change here. By 1 hour, nothing major.

I actually don't recall people saying, they had a problem with making their picks at 1 am. You also weren't definite about your times when we all signed up. You said that it was a sample, which is when I first posed the question to you. Times were not set when we signed up, so when you say people knew what they were getting into, they really didn't. It was really just a luck of the draw. (You gave us a range of hours between 6pm and 12am ET that the draft would take place. All I was asking for was for it to be moved up by 1 hour, not very extreme at all) I remember rebutting by saying that, I would see what the official timings were, and would then see if we could work around it. I also recall you saying that, you would try to figure something out, different from last year. (Seems like both years, have been the same, with the times not being made very flexible for international users) I'm not trying to call you out, because I know you've put a lot of work into this game, and I truly appreciate what you're doing. But for you to just assume that people would have a problem with moving the times up by one hour, without even checking if they would be okay with that, being presumptuous. Let's take a vote, or some sort of consensus to see if people wouldn't mind the initial change that i suggested, instead of just saying assuming that people will have a problem with it. Letting them know that there are international participants might actually be a valid argument that could sway them to make some sacrifices. An outright assumption that they won't be flexible doesn't really give an alternative a realistic chance of entertained at all.

In my opinion starting the draft from 7pm to 1 AM isn't drastic at all. It's actually pretty minor for people in America, and the positive is that, internationally, it helps quite a bit. Having to stay up one extra hour isn't that hard. Having to wake up, before the sun rises is.

PK5, all I ask from you, is to ask the participants if they're okay with this change. Draft between 7 pm and 1 am, instead of 6 pm and 12 am. If they're not, fine, it was worth a shot. If they're not, it would be nice if we had the same schedule, because that minor change you made (15 picks per day, instead of 14) has just made it even harder for international participants.

I think 15 picks per day is ok. It makes everyone has two regular time to join this game without altering their timetable every two or three days to fit the changing schedule.
I prefer draft between "7 pm to 1 am" though. Or I have to get up earlier at 6:30 to make my pick :(

Thanks for your support man.

Even just doing it with 14 picks would have been fine, but just moving the time from 7pm to 1 am, would have helped accommodate us. Something I don't think is too drastic for american players.

If I'm giving up a 4th, I want a 6th back. Can we do that?

So it would be Dallas's 1st and 4th, and 12th (make it an easy swap) for Miami's 2nd, 3rd and 6th

ok we got a deal cuban...

cuban and riley have now officially agreed to a deal!

Brian Windhorst at the Heat index is reporting that the Heat have finally managed to acquire that additional 1st round pick they have been seeking. Word from Miami is that Dallas will part with their 1st, 4th and 12th round picks in exchange for Miami's 2nd, 3rd and 6th round pics. The Heat currently already are slotted to draft #7 overall, so adding this second 1st rounder might be the beginning of building another super-team in South beach. It was touch and go for a while, but after both teams watched other GM's make similar moves, Riley and Cuban put their egos aside and finalized the deal. No truth to the rumor's that Riley wanted stock options in broadcast.com

I just wished you would have went this in depth in the sign up threads, because at this stage in the game, it's frustrating.

You joined up for this last year, and then backed out after seeing the times. Then in the role call thread I showed how the draft was going to go. International users knew they were signing up for a tough schedule...Americans weren't. And yes, I did say I would try to think of some way to get around it, but I also said that I really don't see a way.

This whole time I thought you were saying you wanted it to completely shift...like every other round would go on an International time schedule. Which I'm definitely not doing THIS "Be a GM".

15 picks is just going to be easier for the majority here...it means everyone has only two times (unless they make trades). I'll move the draft up an hour, though. Not sure how much that helps though.

7th (#204)

I'm looking to move up into the late 3rd Round. I have two 5ths to use, one 13 the other 21. Let me know if anyone is interested. Shoot me a deal for even an early 4th rounder.

Thanks for that man...It definitely does help! And I agree, it would have been way too drastic if you were to move the times every round, that would be quite the challenge. I wouldn't have ever wanted you to do that. Sorry for making this such a big drama, I just really wanted to compete in this years edition...I appreciate you changing the time for me!

Guys, again, I would love to get another pick in the first round I don't mind giving you guys a number of picks (3) for 1 or 2 picks (1 first rounder, and one late pick)...

This is what I would be willing to offer...

My 3rd, 4th and 6th round (for the 6th I would give my first pick) for a first round pick and a late round pick (round 7 or later)

Return to Philadelphia 76ers
