Andre Iguodala is on the MARKET!!!!!

http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/21 ... e_Iguodala

the player we should've traded for last season. the player that could've thrived in adelman's system. the player that guards the best wing scorers, racks up assists, crashes the glass, and dunks on whatever he wants.

unfortunately rick isn't the coach, but the rockets have interview a million coaches so i'm not worried about them getting a bad coach. and him being the best player on the team, it wont be much different than philly. but he can be used to lure another all star, this or next offseason.

i hope morey works his tail off to get this guy for a good price.

anyone but lowry and hayes. we can straight up trade martin for iggy. i dont mind that, as long as the front office understands we'd need to improve our back court shooting. it's not that bad, but not good enough for contending.

get er dun morey

I would not move Martin for Iggy, nor do I think that they would want Martin and his contract in return. The ideal situation would be to try to acquire Iggy to play alongside Martin, Scola & Lowry - all of whom have games that I think would compliment each other.

That still doesn't address the gaping hole at Center. I love Chuck the Truck, but I'm worried that he may get an offer from another team that the Rockets won't want to surpass (going around other boards here it is laughable how many fans think that they'll get Chuck for "cheap"). Yao will be back, but he won't be a focal part of this team, so he won't be the answer either.

My dream scenario would be for the NBA to fix...err, I mean for the ping pong balls to fall in our favor and work out a deal with Dwight & the #1/2 pick as the centerpieces, but the stars have to align (Stern has to fix it) for that to happen.

Forgetting that fanasy for a moment, we have to think about what Philly would want. I don't think that they want Martin or Scola. I don't want to give up Lowry or Patterson. If a deal could be done, it would have to be without those pieces involved.

Iggy isn't a star or a center, so no thanks

his contract is high but iggy would fit perfect if adelman was till around. still he is one of the better wing defenders in the league and he is athletic and more than capable offensively. he is a dynamic all around player with long range shooting being his weakness. he would do well with houston.

I agree. But that is not what we would need him for. I try not to focus too much on "what if's" with other teams players. However Iggy would be great in Houston IMO. The only problem being, Budinger has to come off the bench. Unless he was part of the trade.

his contract is steep in his last 2 years, but morey can work with it.

even if we get iggy, i dont think we'll be contenders next season. it might take some depth to get iggy, if we dont trade a scola or martin package. it's worth losing bud or lee to get iggy on this team, especially if we keep lowry, scola, martin, and hayes.

there's two options houston can take moving forward. Either rebuild on the fly and try to make the playoffs, or make some moves this offseason to get in the playoffs.

i think we should try to get in the playoffs. in 1-2 years morey can try to do something to make this team contenders. till then the team can build some good chemistry with the new coach/players, and get some good playoff experience.

Iggy's a nice player, but his contract doesn't entirely fit our situation.

There's likely going to be a lockout next season as well, so he'll be 28 at the time, and with only two years on his contract. I don't really see chasing him unless he's used as a piece for a better player with a contract that makes more sense for our situation. A three-way trade could work nicely here. I'd love to package Martin + someone / picks for him, since he's definitely an upgrade over Martin, but don't know how well that'd work.

Dunno. We wouldn't be overly saddled with his 30s, at any rate.

Iggy on this team would prosper a great deal. He is an extremely good on ball defender. The last two years of his contract is steep, and right now straight up salaries don't match, but...

Look at the current teams right now that faltered in the playoffs. I'm looking at LA and I'm looking at Orlando. There are players on both those teams that need a change in scenery right now. If we can help those two teams out with our younger pieces, perhaps we can swing a three way to get Iggy?

Who wants to work the trade machine?

i don't see that being a problem at all. in reality if we ever planned on being a serious team, we wouldn't have been able to do it with bud as a starter. we need a defender and iggy is one of the best

just a quick incomplete trade...

lets say Houston gets:
F: Iggy

Orlando gets:
F: Luis Scola: would fit well with dwight. he can hit open jumpers and be a reliable post scorer. his defense would be assisted with dwight.
C: Brad Miller: Orlando gets a veteran center that can give dwight rest while still having a big body on defense

Philly gets:
not sure what philly would be interested in. im sure draft picks are an option.

--------------

as far as L.A. goes, i wouldn't know their plan. i know they just got swept but i can't see them trading away gasol or bynum or their versatile 6th man odom.

don't want him. He gets paid 19 mil a year and he's not even a go to player on his team. Besides helping us on defense he does nothing else to take us to new heights. If all we want is an athlete who's a good on-ball defender then lets just trade for tony allen, he costs a lot less :-? .........

I would not move Scola in an Iggy deal.

(also, I would not do any deal to make Orlando an attractive place for Dwight to stay! )

he doesn't get paid 19m a year
he's only getting about 1m more than martin
sure he's not a 20+ scorer like martin
but he plays defense and is a play maker
not afraid to touch the ball in the 4th quarter
i'll take him over martin
did i mention first trade i done in my 2k11 game is trading martin+brooks for iguodala+holiday?

typo. I meant 14 mil plus he has three years left + a player option. I don't see where the "not afraid to touch the ball in the 4th" comes from either because since the younger players on the sixers have emerged they don't even really go to him in the 4th. I'd have no problem taking iggy if I knew that we had a go to scorer already but if martin is gone idk who would be our "go to guy".

that's true. and i considered that how much orlando would improve with scola. but i don't think they will be serious contenders with him which will still mean a possible dwight move. and hopefully we would have a better team to attract dwight. (basically too much hoping for all stars to align ehh...)

on a side note:

i would not want to move martin to get iggy. they will complement each other well. (it would be even better if adelman was till our coach). martin is the go to scorer and the deadly threat from 3 and getting to the free throw line. his weakness is defense, being a playmaker, and crunch time which iggy will take care of. iggy's weakness as being a shooter is taken care of by martin. of course we still are relying on acquiring a solid center in the process.

Good center
Scola
Iggy
Martin
Lowry

Our back court is set. All we need is a good center...
Also Scola, I dont know. Cant see him handle big guys that are athletic.

Ron ron on how commited he is to the team.

How are you going to get Iggy without giving up Scola or Martin to match up the salaries?
Harden is still a work-in-progress. He can score, but he can't help his teammate that much - Yao Ming

Sixers fan here. The Sixers are looking for a big man for Iggy. There is no need for a Pg, SF, or really a SG on this team. But the Sixers are light at center and backup PF.

Yeah you guys would certainly have to part with Patrick Patterson as well.
