Actually no. Gilbert is very frugal. He basically negotiated his last contract without the help of an agent, which was quite impressive, and saved himself about 3.5 million dollars.

He's not dumb when it comes to money....just women.

If the union has any power, they'd give Gil heck if he didn't take the money. Otoh, there might be some injury insurance on the contract, so Orlando might not have to pay it all - even if it all does count on their cap.

The Bobcats intend to re-sign Dominic McGuire and hope to have him for Friday's game against the Lakers.

Charlotte would like to bring the forward back to fill their open roster spot.

McGuire was one of the three players cut to facilitate last week's trades. The Bobcats wanted to bring back Derrick Brown, but the Knicks claimed him on waivers.

Speaking of Jeffries, in his first four game back with the Knicks, he has played around 100 minutes and has a whooping....1 total point...giving him an average of 0.25 ppg.

I don't even know how that's possible.

This season? Miller is at 43.9% on unguarded jumpers (1.244 PPS, 79th percentile) but, more glaringly, in the area of 0-for-crunch time

I'm happy to hear this. Grover's program seemed to help him last time, at least temporarily.

The problem is, it really appears that Arenas' knee just can't take the grind anymore. Arenas will probably enter training camp next year in great shape and we'll hear all the stories about how he has regained his explosiveness. But then, 10 games into the season, we will see him regress as his compromised knee begins to break down again.

Is there any room in Grover's camp for Andray Blatche? Now THAT is something I'd really like to see.

One of these days I actually want to see Steve Blake throw down with somebody to see how he handles himself. He was at it again last night after a fairly hard foul from Terry and in the end 4 people got ejected. That man backs down from nothing. To think he used to look so meek and mild in a Wiz uni. I suspect the beard is the culprit for his boost in violent testosterone the past couple years.

Nice to see Haywood getting props for his defensive impact.

Opponents are averaging only 98.75 points per 100 possessions with Haywood on the floor during the playoffs. That's a little more than five points fewer than they're averaging with Chandler (103.81), who finished third in Defensive Player of the Year voting, in the game. It's also a drop of five points from the regular season when Haywood manned the middle.

By comparison, the Bulls and Celtics had the best defensive rating in the NBA during the regular season at 100.3 points per 100 possessions. Haywood, who is averaging 1.2 blocks, is playing a huge role in the Mavs adhering to the old adage of defense winning championships.

While he's not scoring much, Haywood's presence has allowed the Mavs' small-ball lineup to run on a regular basis. Dallas has an off-the-charts offensive rating of 116.51 with Haywood in the game. His has a positive 37 plus-minus in 157 playoff minutes.

It's hilarious that even though Dallas plays better as a team with Haywood in the game, he still lost his starting job this year.... like he always does.

One of the many times that Ernie and EJ should have been fired

was after EJ famously benched Haywood and chose to give Etan Thomas much of the run against Z during the playoffs. EJ coached a horrible series and Ernie was his enabler.

Actually, they were far better in the regular season with Tyson Chandler in the game than with Haywood. The article is pointing out the trend in playoffs, only.

First link shows Dallas during the regular season was + 7.0 points better per 100 possessions with Chandler on the court. Second shows they were -7.7 points worse with Haywood on the court during the regular season.

Brendan Haywood is having a strong playoffs but he doesn't give Dallas the offense and overall strong play that Tyson Chandler does. What Haywood gives them is a great bench C.

And I obviously disagree, clogs. Ernie was the one that refused to trade Haywood and forced EJ to work things out with him. Of course GMs don't determine game minutes, but Ernie certainly played a role in keeping Haywood in the rotation IMO.
