76ers/Jazz trade..any interest

Post#1 » by HolyToledo » Mon May 9, 2011 3:44 am

Iggy is rumored out of philly and Nicioni has a terrible contract they would love to get rid of.

Iggy and Nicioni for Memo and Millsap and Bell...seems one sided for Utah but Jazz get stuck with 2 bad contracts.

PG Harris Watson Jimmer
SG Iggy Miles Jimmer
C Jefferson Elson
PF Favors Evans Montejunis/Vesely
SF Hayward Miles Nicioni

I make the trade bc I think it helps the Jazz for several years. It is risky as taking on a couple of huge contracts.

You are seriously discounting Millsap's value, both competitive and financial.

I like Iguodala for the Jazz and I would love to dump Bell, however, there would be no reason AT ALL for Utah to to take on Nocioni's contract in a deal for Millsap. Iggy's is bad enough, at more than $18M per for the next three years, while Millsap is one of the most reasonably paid veterans in the L. That is the kind of trade wherein the Jazz should be getting sweeteners like a first round draft pick, not further shat upon.

Further, Memo's contract will be an asset next year, which could be used to move up in a draft which is shaping up to be one of the deepest talent pools in NBA history. And given the current make-up of the roster, the draft may be the most effective means through which this team can build.

Therefore:
Millsap + Bell for Iggy and Minnesota's 2012 first rounder. This I would consider. But were I to trade Millsap, I would also consider focusing my energy on obtaining Derrick Williams.

I really like Iggy and want him in Utah. Too bad Nocioni isn't his old self. If he were playing tough, hard-nosed basketball like he used to, this would be a great move.
In '03-'04, Jerry Sloan coached the ESPN predicted "worst team of all time" to 42-40.

i will repeat what i sad there, why not trade Memo and that Nets pick for Igy it sound much better than giving up Sap to attract 76ers.

I'd trade for Igoudala. With him and Hayward at the 2 and 3 we've got a lot of defense and playmaking on the wings.

We are FINALLY free of the TERRIBLE contract AK had and we do not need to jump into another!
That kind of money for that level of talent is just plain dumb.

Iggy isn't even close to 18Mil a yr. He's only 13.7mil, thats the why Memo and Bell would get it done alone. Or maybe sign AK to a deal with bell added in.

The Philly Inquirer reported 3/$56M. Turns out that is incorrect.

http://hoopshype.com/salaries/philadelphia.htm

He will be pulling down a little over $44M over the next three years, not $56M. That figure includes this year's salary. My enthusiasm for an Iggy deal is thus bolstered, but there is still no way I would take on Nocioni.

Millsap + Bell for Iguodala + 2012 second round pick, unless we could manage one of their first rounders.

still way to much,
I would much rather keep Sap.
Iggy at 30 for 3 would be to much.

It's Iggy at 27 for 3 yrs. If the Jazz can do this for Bell and Memo, then its a no brainer. Bell and Memo however will not net you anywhere close to Iggy. So this will NEVER happen..

Huh? Look at the link. Its over $28M for two years, with a player option of almost $16M on the third-- total of more than $44M for three.

For those who believe that is too much, realize that our payroll structure will be such that we can absorb his contract for its three year length and stay under the cap at the same time. It's still three years before any of the rookie contracts of our first round picks expire.

Iggy's contract may be a bit high for his production, but its nearly impossible to pry a really good player on a good contract from a team. Sometimes the responsible thing is to spend the money necessary to put the best product possible on the court, while not compromising the future viability of the franchise. The Jazz will be profitable as long as they stay under the cap and make the playoffs- very profitable.

I was begging for the Jazz to make a move for Iggy when we still had D-Will but now that he is gone I don't feel like it would be in the best interest of the organization. He isn't the type of player that is going to push us back into the playoffs and he would only take time from any younger players we bring in or already have.

I love him but I don't want him anymore.

I don't know what the Jazz plans are, but if they are looking to build around what they have, they should be looking to shed the roster of a veteran or two, and not have to take back another veteran even if the veteran is as good as Iggy, but I'd rather have Jefferson than Iggy, and it would be a mistake to put those two on the floor together.

Return to Utah Jazz
