im really not upset at all....you win some and you lose some....what im upset at is the unsportsmanship of odom and bynum. the champs got a beatdown, and our team couldnt accept it. bottom line is we are too old of a team, especially with fisher. the gasol breakup family feud Sh*t caught all of us offguard.
im not for one bit, blaming gasol. the man is a class-act and he won us 2 straight championships, one sweeter than the other.
however, if you check a previous post of mine, i did mention JJ barea. i mentioned he would be the mavs X-factor, and i guess i was right. we depened too much on our last line of defense(bynum), and until we fix that, this team is probably gona be bounced out of the 2nd round time and time again.
we need to make some adjustments-
1. kobe needs to realize its not 2006 anymore. if he played a rip hamilton type game we'd be a much better team than having him trying to take over games.
2. gasol is NOT a problem. we have one of the best PF's in the league...the only other player i can think of to replace him is dirk, and that aint happening.
3. the point guard spot needs to be updated, desparately. i didnt think we'd miss farmar and sasha but we do. A LOT.
4. this offseason shouldnt be about getting young draft picks...it should be about getting young studs already in the league....point guards to be specific. and we need a backup small forward. matt barnes just doesnt cut it.

on a side note, congrats once again to LO for a superb season. and i hope the gasol/kobe thing can come to a rest as abruptly as it was brought up.

congrats to the mavs, i'd like to see dirk and kidd win a ring before anyone else in this league not named steve nash.

I'm very appreciative of what the lakers have done in this 3-4 year span. But what happened in this series is simply unacceptable, no way we should have gotten swept. And to bend over like that the last game of the season really pisses me off.

One of the bigs should be moved for a real PG. We have to solidify our bench. And for the love of god please get some real three point shooting on the team.

I'm not worried the league doesn't have a dominant superpower team where we won't be able to get back into the mix of things. I could see us winning it at least one more time before Kobe hangs them up.

Supposedly Vanessa Bryant was behind the spilt of Gasol and his fiance. Pau was irate and the whole thing fractured the chemistry between Kobe and Gasol. That's why this team hasn't been performing up to it's maximum capabilities. Supposedly.

3 things we need:
-a defensive minded coach
-a real PG
-upgrade the bench with shooters
nothing else, book it!

Jerry West and Kilroy agree... 8-)

Kobe, Lamar, Pau, Bynum... If they can be made to play together again and get some youthful help, that's still a Contender right there.

For next season I still believe in Kobe(33) , PAU (31) , Lamar (32) , Ron (32) , and Andrew (24).

No doubt they been through just too many games in these past three years. (Road to the Finals, Summer Olympic ball Ext. )

Sunny Southern California, Los Angeles and the most successful franchise in NBA history.
Oh yeah and let's not forget we still have Dr. Jerry Buss as our owner!

We down and out this season and that's fine.
But If there's one thing the haters need to realize is that whenever the Lakers go down they do not stay down for long.

We will be back on top :D

I like Ron, but I think he needs to come off the bench for a more athletic, better shooting 3...

Either that or Kobe needs to move to 3 and we need to pick up a younger, quicker 2...

We need some athleticism (and shooting) on the perimeter... And I'm not sure just a 1 is enough.

I don't believe the Vanessa and Pau's fiance rumor. I think its just dumb. Pau and his fiance have been in a relationship for a long time. Why would you let some person destroy your relationship? If that is true then sorry your girl does not really love you.

This just the media. Kobe and Pau are an easy target. Kobe said the two (Vanessa and Pau's fiance) barley know each other.

I don't want to trade Pau anymore. I love the guy even if he was a total no show this post season.

I'm still pissed at Pau... It's hard for me to trust him in the post season after a lack-luster performance like this. But I think there were problems in that locker room... Not the wives thing, but something else... The only person I saw that seemed to care and tried to fight through it was Bynum... Even Kobe didn't seem to have the same fire and determination as he had for the last few runs...
I'm thinking a coaching change might do wonders for this team...

So I won't go so far as to say I don't 'want' to trade him... I just don't think we 'need' to trade him. I think we have a pretty good core with him.

That said, nobody is off the block if the right deal came around for me.

I see no reason to be upset too. When we lost to Boston in the finals it HURT much worse for me because we hadn't won in a title in so long and I wasn't sure if the team had it in them to do it the next year. This time we're coming off b2b championships so it doesn't really sting that much after the dust has settled, and we have an excellent opportunity to come back next year. Here's to the great run we had for 2-3 years of b2b champions and 3 finals appearances.

I'm way more disappointed than actually upset (though there's a little of that, as is always the case when the season ends).

More than anything, I'm just grateful we were able to get back to the promised land post-Shaq. Things were looking pretty grim there for a while, and to be able to climb out of that was sweet. Especially while adding another win over the Celtics.

So ultimately, I'm not about to complain. It was fun while it lasted, and we still might be able to pull another rabbit out of our hat with a little more patented Laker luck.

Blaming the majority of the Laker's dismay on Pau does not do it. The entire Lakers team has been really awful throughout the entire season in defending the 3s. I've seen too many times the Lakers simply luck out when their opponents missed wide opened 3s. For a team like Dallas, they're not going to miss that many wide opened 3s.

No team in the past 25 years has ever made it to the Finals 4 straight years and it's not a coincidence at all. Players will fatigue after so many games that they have to play, they're not superman like they act and say like they are.

The only thing that the Lakers need is just a PG that can penetrate the paint and they're back to the Finals.
