Ineteresting proposition?

Post#1 » by suns12345 » Sun May 8, 2011 10:54 pm

http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/21 ... e_Iguodala

firstly soory if this should be in another thread but anyway....

this report says iggy will be traded. do u guys think this is true and if so is it something the suns might look at?

heres somethnig i though up...

Phili:
GET - Vince (expiring) and robin fropez
LOSE - Iggy and songalia (filler)

Suns:
GET- Iggy and songalia (waive)
LOSE - vince and lopez

granted probably a bit one sided, but i think it would make us better. especially if we used our lottery pick on a pf/c

we would end up with:
nash/brooks
iggy/dudley
hill/childress
channing/draft
gortat/draft

the reason for doing this is we get or wing scorer and an above average defender. dudley's limited minutes are an issue but im sure gentry can work rotations and line ups to get around it? anyway what are u guys' thoughts

R.Lopez of 2009.... might be a fair trade from 76ers point of view...

R.Lopez of 2010.... no way. His 4 points and 2 rebounds a game aint gonna cut it... Spencer Hawes is twice the player that of Lopez this season.... it could be due to injuries etc, but the fact is... Lopez value is early 2nd round pick at the momment.....

Well, we may offer Lopez + whatever, but I think the 76ers will get some good value for Iggy. Talk already of the Kings giving the #5 overall or the Clippers giving up Kaman, both probably trump anything we could offer that the 76ers would want.

They are probably looking for a young prospect or a high draft pick for Iggy, not a dead corpse in Vince or some stiff in Lopez...

I wonder if BOS would be interested in something like Lopez + Childress for a re-signed Jeff Green, starting at the MLE?

Green could play SF here and we could run a big starting lineup of

Nash
Hill
Green
Frye
Gortat

Suns get:
Iguodala and Songaila

Suns give:
Carter, Warrick, Pietris

They can buy out Carter for 4 mill, and save a few million for getting another free agent

Nash-Brooks
Iggy-Dudley
Hill-Childress
Frye-Songaila
Gortat-Lopez (or hopefully a better draft pick)

Reports are that Philly is looking for a Gay for Iggy or Kamen for Iggy trade. Hell, i even read a idea around Iggy/Speights for Bynum/Artest/1st. I dont think we stand a chance.

I like your idea more from the "it's a real possibility" standpoint. Green was good in OKC, but now he's playing behind a starting line-up with 4 all-stars. He was a great 3rd banana there, but OKC just needed more size. I think he'd work quite well. Boston needs a 15 minute center and a legit backup at the 2 and 3 spot

I've backed off Iggy after riding his nuts for the last 2 years hoping he'd be wearing a Suns' uni. If we don't rebuild then Hill will likely stay and Iggy isn't a SG. Good defender and playmaker and he'd definitely help but he can't stretch the floor and that's what we need. Also, we aren't taking on that contract and nobody is taking Carter even for his buyout or Warrick/Childress.

Don't see any of our assets being able to get us Iggy. They want legit young talent, not just a salary dump.

Only way we get AI is if we take Brand also. This would work in the checker once Pietrus' PO is picked up:

VC, RoLo, Pietrus
EB, AI, $3m?

EB has really battled back from his achilles injury. He is still productive and with the Suns still being committed to Nash/Hill it would be worth the risk to get AI. Phx would have a very good defensive wing rotation and EB would help out on the boards. If Brooks settles in to his backup role he and AI could really compliment eachother once Nash leaves.

Gortat, Frye
Brand, Farried, Hak
GH, Chill
AI, Duds
Nash, Brooks

Philly clears a ton of space after next season and has a year to try to bring RoLo back to life.

why would 76ers trade Brand for an expiring now??

They made the playoffs can only get better, Brand was solid this season and starting to play well again. He averaged close to 15ppg and 8rpg. Right now, there is NO ONE on the FA that can play PF and give 15 and 8.

When they establish Turner at the "2", they'll continue to improve.

They have already come out and said Brand is staying in Philly. That whole Brand+Iggy trade setup was towards the start of the season. They just want to get rid of Iggy and upgrade their C spot and get a serviceable SG/SF in return too.

I think LAC would be their best bet. Iggy/Speights for Kamen/Aminu.

LAC: MoWill/Gordon/Iggy/Griffin/Jordan

PHI: Holliday/Turner/Aminu/Brand/Kamen

I have a hard time believing that if they can save $12m this coming year and $18m the next by moving EB they would pass that up. Brand is playing better true but that just makes him barely tradeable. $18m is max player money. No way PHX would touch him if Iggy wasn't coming also.

i really like that deal, as Green has the ability to play Power Forward as well. I've been a fan of Green ever since he was drafted, and I reckon as a legit 2nd option, he could be a 21, 7 player.

Not sure if Boston does that though. It would've ultimatly been Perkins for Childress+Lopez..... Hmmm

I can't stand green.

The guys a legitimate chucker and averages poor FG%. I dont think he's the answer. We have Frye to do his job already methinks

iggy will definitely be shopped hard by the sixers....

I dont think he is a good fit for us though. He has less perimeter game and need the ball more than Jrich, so essentially he is going to be a more expensive worse fitting version of Jason Richardson

I would rather put those resources into going for a player who fits around our talent like Nick Young or gallinari etc

Iggy is overpaid, has injury concerns, can't shoot (no fit on the Suns coupled with Hills limited shooting), wouldn't make us that much better..

We would be better off waving Carter and clearing that money than taking on Iggys 15M$ per year deal just before the new CBA.

I like Iggy a lot, but that's a pile of cheese, innit?

checked it - Brand is $16mil, Ig is a relative bargoon at $12.4 mil

1) less expensive
2) MUCH, MUCH, MUCH, MUCH, MUCH better defender

(but that doesn't necessarily mean he's worth it)
