The voting is ridiculous. I know I shouldn't be surprised because it's screwed up every year but I can't help but be angry about this.

First of all, I'm a Clippers Fan, and no one guarded Blake Griffin as well as Chuck Hayes did this year. Not only that, but the way he guarded Amar'e Stoudemire was unbelievable. His lower body strength and ability to stop post payers from getting to their favourite spots is unparalleled IMO. Both Blake and Amar'e have not only inches on Hayes but, needless to say, can out-jump him SIGNIFICANTLY. Regardless of that, Hayes put the lockdown on both of these guys consistently.

Now I'll admit to only watching maybe half of the Rockets games this year but am I right in thinking that this guy deserves at least an All Defensive Second Team spot? Joakim Noah - are you serious? As far as lockdown one-on-one post defenders go, he's in his own league.

dont take it seriously, most these awards are useless. every rational nba fan knows hayes is one of the best defenders period.

The reason he's there? Probably to help establish mythos for the ongoing [stupid] Jordan vs. Kobe arguments.

Main matchup problem for Chuck: 6'11+ jumpshooting centers that are matchup problems for everyone else except prime KG, too.

Anyway, 1st team is usually all-stars who aren't total sieves at that end.
2nd team is borderline all-stars who are known for defense but not necessarily exceptional.

You occasionally see non-scoring, non-C defensive stoppers on 2nd team, almost never on the first team.
Non-scoring Cs can get on the first team, but they have to lead the league in blocks by a significant margin.

Chuck only makes people not score. Sorry, Chuck.

Do you think that the media would do a better job? Doesn't the media vote on the Hall of Fame? The glaring absence of Guy V. Lewis in the HOF makes me question the media's ability to decide things like this.
