Too bad, cuz its happening if I can get ahold of Mitch.

As for the Howard trade, that will be our first option I assume. If (and probably when) we get turned down, then we move on to these other proposals. At this point, I don't see Howard coming.

Laker would be fine with a lineup of:

Kemba (knight)/fisher/Blake
Kobe/JR Smith??
Artest/Lewis
Odom/blatche
Bynum/????

Still need a backup SG, and backup C, but we have a future PG who can help now by providing penetration and athleticism. I like blatche as a backup if he can get his **** together, he has talent. And Lewis finally gives us a 3pt shooter, he really isnt that bad, it's just his contract is disgusting.

I think it make us more balanced, and on the plus side, we get younger.

I assume we let barnes and brown walk, or try to move them on.

Raymond Felton for Lamar would seem to be the most likely target. They've been chasing him for years and he'd be such an excellent fit as a defensive PG, now with a three point shot that can play in something like the Princeton offense, allowing others to shine as well as calling plays and even creating offense for himself. I would prefer to trade Pau but I don't think that will be the case. It's tough to break up this core, but who knows perhaps they pull a deal for a guy like Jack and they don't trade anyone worth much away.

Anyone know how long you have to wait until you can trade a player you receive in a trade in combination with others?

Luke+Blake+Ebanks+Barnes+Caracter+two high 2nds+3m in cash. Is Baron Davis really worth anymore than that?

split the mle to Przybilla and a combo guard that can play pg and sg, get a cheap shooter for the lle/vets min

Przybilla, Nick Young/Aflalo, cant believe I'm saying this, give Sasha the LLE. he's a cheap shooter, he knows the system, and for chemistry porpusess.

Bynum, Przybilla
Gasol, Odom
Artest, Barnes, Ebanks
Kobe, Young, Vujacic
Blake, Fisher

Move Fisher to backup SG and take the #18 pick from the Wiz and draft Nolan Smith to take Fisher's minutes. Also, start Blake and let Brandon Knight come off the bench. Sign (and overpay)Nazr Mohammed as a third string insurance center:

PG - Blake - Knight
SG - Bryant - Fisher - Smith
C - Bynum - Blatche - Mohammed
PF - Odom - Lewis
SF - Artest - Ebanks

So, I think the first order of business for the Lakers is to find a coach. The second order of business is to find a real PG who can dominate the ball and take advantage of Kobe's shooting and the good hands and great footwork of our big men.

Instead of focusing on Dwight Howard, which doesn't really address a team need other than "getting a star"--I'd like to see them target a PG.

Here are a couple of ideas ...

FIRST IDEA:

Lakers get: Iguodala and Brandon Jennings
76ers get: Pau Gasol
Bucks get. Evan Turner, Lakers 1st round, 76ers 1st round and cash

This deal is predicated on just how far Jennings has fallen out of favor with Scott Skiles, but it definitely gets us the ball handler and makes us more athletic/younger. I really like Jennings, he feels like he's wired like Kobe and could really benefit under his leadership.

Jennings
Kobe
Iguodala
Odom
Bynum

Then we still have Blake's $4M to trade for more size.

SECOND IDEA:

Lakers get: Martell Webster and the rights to Ricky Rubio
Wolves get: Lamar Odom, Lakers 1st round pick and cash

I love Lamar, but he becomes the odd man out in this deal for a couple of reasons: the first is that he's a 6th man so this would leave the starting unit untouched, the second is that this move is partially designed to invigorate Pau Gasol by delivering him his country man. The bigger reason is simply because it gives us the talented PG (a very young PG) that we need to dominate the ball. I know there are rumors about Rubio "not growing" and "taking a step backwards" but I think that comes from the simple fact that this kid knows he should be in the NBA right now. Martell Webster gives us the shooter (.420 from 3 this year) that we need to help space the floor.

Rubio
Kobe
Artest
Gasol

What is that^ ... that is garbage? Are you trying to turn us into a lottery team? You're gonna give away BOTH of our PF's and replace them with small guys, leaving just injury prone Bynum down low? That's sick!

Plus there is no way the 76'ers are trading Iggy, Turner and a 1st for Gasol, not gonna happen.

There is also no way the Bucks get Turner and (2) #1's for Jennings ... are you on crack?

Why would we need Rubio if we get Jennings?

The entire post is just horrible, wow.

The two best trades available to us are:

1.) Pau, Blake, Walton and Ebanks to the Wizards for Shard, Blatche and the #4 and #18 picks ... would do that in a heartbeat, draft Kemba or Brandon and than maybe a project C in Noguiera at the #18 or a Morris twin if they fall that far and if we're moving Odom (which I don't think we are and I hope not) ... Nolan Smith ... no thanks as he's not a legit SG and we don't need him if we get Kemba or Brandon.

2.) Bynum and Walton to the Raptors for Barbosa, Ed Davis, the #3 pick and the expiring contracts of Julian Wright and Reggie Evans ... if we can't do the Pau deal above I would do this deal as I consider a Kemba/Davis combo (especially when factoring in getting out of Luke's contract and giving Kobe the first decent back he's had in years in Barbosa) better than a Bynum/Walton duo.

By the way, just so everyone knows ... I see Kemba being much more of an instant threat on this team than Knight, while I see Knight as perhaps a better long-term option. I could see kemba averaging 15/5/4/2 as a rooke and Brandon averaging closer to 7/4/3/1 ... in their primes I see kemba as a 22/7/5/2 guy and Brandon as a 19/9/7/1.5 guy

Both trades get declined.. Sixers dont take gasol cuz they would likely be looking for financial relief, picks, and/or young talent for iggy.. No way they give up evan turner, a #1, AND iggy for pau who is older, softer, and much higher paid!!! Also, minny doesnt give up rubio for lo.. They're a rebuilding team and value rubio very highly. No way they give up a younger, cheaper player for an older, more expensive player who is ending his prime if not already past it.. Im not sold on rubio as a franchise pg but minny is and wont trade him for anything except a very nice package of young talent/picks..

Nolan Smith is a combo guard. He can play both PG and SG offensively and defensively IMO.

I envision Knight and Kobe starting together one day with Nolan Smith backing up both spots.

Blake starting and Fisher as the backup SG would be great for mentoring reasons.

Knight could learn how to be an NBA PG from Blake, and Fisher could teach Smith how to be an NBA combo guard.

Nolan Smith would completely fortify the defensive PG duties (with Knight).

I just think he'd be a great utility guard in the mold of Bobby Jackson and Jason Terry ... only taller (solid 6'3 based on observation only).

Brandon Knight, Nolan Smith, Blatche, Rashard Lewis and the hopeful emergence of Ebanks represent GREAT value for Walton and Gasol ... it aslo completely revamps our PG position (defensively).

Gasol, Bynum & Fisher for Howard & Arenas

Post#391 » by Karl Marx » Tue May 10, 2011 7:19 pm

http://basketball.realgm.com/tradecheck ... de/5884886

If your a Laker you go it because you do it because you get best player in the deal.
I believe that Arenas can also do a good job.

If your Orlando, you do it because you are going to lose Howard anyway and in this deal you get his replacement in Bynum, all star power forward in Gasol and get rid of Arenas contract.

Lineups:
Orlando: Bynum, Gasol, Turkoglu, Richardson (re-signed) and Nelson. This team is a contender.
Lakers: Howard, Odom, Artest, Kobe and Arenas. This team is also a contender.
It works out for both teams.

hoops_32 wrote:I still say we should retool not blow up the team. Our trio of Gasol,Bynum, and Odom is our advantage over every team and we should keep it. First we should go sign Rodney Stuckey. Stuckey is a big guard, plays good defense, is athletic, and can score. Then trade Luke Walton and draft picks for John Salmons. I think the Bucks would do this deal as Walton's contract is shorter so they save money. These two moves allow us to upgrade at PG and improve our bench. This team needs to be tweaked not blown up to make it back to the finals.

Stuckey/Blake/Fisher
Kobe/Brown
Artest/Salmons
Gasol/Odom
Bynum/

Can another team sign Stucky outright? I think he has a $3.8Mil QO on the books with Detroit.

Im in the camp that thinks the Lakers should retool, not rebuild so this is what i propose as the first step in that process..

• Cleveland Trades: Daniel Gibson, 2011 2nd Round Pick (OKC), $1 Million Cash
• LA Lakers Trade: Devin Ebanks, 2013 1st Round Pick (LA Lakers- Protected), Matt Barnes (Optional if LA wants to shed his salary)

Gives LA a combo guard off the bench that is efficient on/off the ball, can provide an instant scoring punch, has proven to be a great shooter/clutch player, can defend other quick/athletic point guards and is entering his prime. He would be more than capable of playing the role of Derek Fisher for the next 10 years and is on a reasonable contract with a style of play that perfectly complements the triangle and LA's roster. The 2nd Round Pick and $1 Million allow further flexibility in adding immediate talent THIS year. He can sufficiently replace Shannon Brown (who is looking for a payday) while filling in for the declining Derek Fisher and Steve Blake.

What do you guys think?

What would it take to get Anthony Parker rather than Boobie Gibson?

Why Parker over Gibson?

Gibson is a better shooter and Parker is going to be 36 next month. I would take Boobie in a heartbeat. He was (Please Use More Appropriate Word) last year from downtown when LeBron gave him open looks -- and he'll get plenty of those with the Lakers.

Damn I thought Parker was around 31. I just think he's a more consistent shooter and not a liability on defense.

He's a FA this year but Cleveland reportedly wants to resign him to serve as a mentor in the rebuild. Otherwise, he could be had for a portion of the MLE or the vet minimum. But Bulls would be at the top of his list since they have coveted him for a while and would be able to give him more minutes and possibly even a starting spot. So I doubt he ends up with the Lakers.

Gibson is a better option anyways due the fact that he fills a bigger positional need at PG, provides energy, quickness, and an instant scoring punch (which LA lacks), and is a better trade asset for a potential future deal with Orlando or NO.

Yeah, that's the only thing. Parker is actually a better defender, from what I remember. However, the Cavs had such great team defense that it didn't matter if Boobie was a liability. That has me thinking though... a Bynum/Varejao FC would be nasty in terms of defense, so I wonder if we'd look at pursuing both? We'd almost certainly have to give up Pau or Odom though.

Parker? Gibson?

Really? that's just like our Steve Blake/Matt Barnes type of additions from last year. We need a good pg. Odom for Felton sounds like the play.

AI-in-LA? Are you as dumb as Allen Iverson? Go back and read the post again ... I said, quite clearly and eloquently, the LAKERS NEED A PG HERE ARE TWO OPTIONS IN HOW THEY CAN GET A PG!!! Option 1: The brandon jennings trade and Option 2: the Ricky Rubio trade.

Who am I David Kahn??? Why would I want to do both those trades?? You should stop eating Sugar DumDum cereal every morning my man.

As for your immense ridicule of my ideas ...

YOU'RE THE ONE WANTING TO TRADE GASOL AND BYNUM in a deal for Dwight??????? Really, I'm really supposed to believe that trade??? Am I supposed to take it seriously even for a second???? Because 6 player for 7 player trades happen all the time in the NBA??? Stop being an idiot and come up with something that's atleast plausible.

The only faults in my trades were simply wondering if the Bucks might trade Brandon Jennings because he has fallen out of favor with Scott Skiles AND the Bucks GM Hammond really liked Evan Turner in last year's draft.

But, we can just waste everyone's time and play the AI-IN-LA FAKE-TRADE GAME ...

Here's my first entry ...

Lakers get: Melo, Amare, Billups, 2 first round picks and Spike Lee.
Knicks get: Bynum, Gasol, Odom, Fisher, Walton, 4 first round picks and Flea.
YAAAAAAY!
