Re: 2010-11 Toronto Raptors Trade Ideas Thread
^^ I wouldn't mind taking a flyer on Aldrich (I think Mullens is a lost cause personally). I wouldn't give up a future 1st, we could very well end up in the lottery the next few years, and there's some great talents available in the next few years. OKC now looks pretty set with their frontcourt with Ibaka/Perkins/Collison, so I don't see Aldrich getting much opportunity at all. If we can make a simple move with our TPE or a s&t with one of our expirings, then I'd be fine with that-- but I wouldn't give up any of our 1st rounders (or DeMar/Ed/Amir/Bayless/James Johnson/Bargs) for him.

If we can just nab guys like Henry, Mayo and/or Aldrich with the remaining TPE I think we come out smelling like roses. It also does something to dispel the fact that we got nothing for Chris Bosh.

Re: 2010-11 Toronto Raptors Trade Ideas Thread
you have nothing to entice either of those teams to give up Henry,Mayo or Aldrich? What are you going to offer MEM? Theyd probably want a backup C to Gasol but have no real incentive to deal Mayo/Henry with Battiers FA and age coming up. Same for OKC Perkins doesnt look all that promising or the force he was in Boston so i think they still develop Aldrich especially use him as a backup to Perk next year
Ibaka / Collison
Perkins / Aldrich
is what i expect their rotation to be next year. So i dont see either of those respective teams dealing those players.

How will they pay OJ Mayo with Rudy Gay, Mike Conley, Zack Randolph, and soon-to-be Marc Gasol getting fat contracts? Shouldn't they have incentive to deal him?

why deal him for the TE? IND offered up their pick for him and IMO his value has increased since then. We have nothing to offer. Unless your dealing #3 to them. They may not be able to pay him doesnt mean they will deal him for the TE

I don't really want OJ because we have DeMar as the 2 and I'd prefer a Barbosa or a JR Smith as the backup SG, but if we really wanted him maybe they would be interested in James Johnson or Amir Johnson plus more cap relief we can give them by taking another contract for the TPE.

Re: 2010-11 Toronto Raptors Trade Ideas Thread
^^ I agree that Mayo will require some sort of decent asset going Memphis' way (like the pick in the failed Indy deal)... but I do think that you can land a guy like Henry at little cost. We saw Memphis give up a pick to dump Thabeet, they're really going to need to break the bank to keep Gasol, so I think Henry could be a realistic target. They'll do whatever they have to to keep Gasol, and they just signed Gay/ZBo to max extensions, plus they'll want to bring back Battier as well--so while Henry's 2.17 million isn't a lot, it can make a difference when you're dealing with lux tax issues and in a position where you're trying to take the next step to contend. Maybe a small TPE would be valuable for them in pursuing some vet FAs (or re-signing their own guys), or perhaps they'd be interested in a s&t with one of our cheaper players like Weems/Reggie/Dorsey, or some 2nd rounders or something. Or maybe they like Barbosa or Bargs--although that would require more salary and pieces being involved, and I don't think that's as easy to work.
There aren't going to be many (if any) teams offering a lot of value for Henry since he hasn't proven very much at this point, and with Memphis looking more like a team that is looking to compete in the playoffs than develop young talent, this could make sense for both sides.

Thabeet was a bust though and making 4.7 million. I highly doubt MEM gives him up for nothing. He was their starting SG before and is still young. Its going to take an asset (ie 2012 1st lottery protected + TE for Henry) thats the only deal that would make sense for Mem. Amir makes no sense, JJ could but i think they just re-sign Battier. I just think you guys expect them to dump a young player like Henry who has a pretty cheap salary and a guy i think they like more than Mayo. Now if you offered a lotto protected pick (2012) + TE for Mayo i think they do that in a second. Hes making 5.6 million, they likely wouldnt see the pick in 2012 because wed still be bad and would see it in the future. I think they deal Mayo before Henry, Mayos up for an extension, Henry is signed for a cheap 2.3 and 3.2 million after Mayo is up so that is very manageable.

Agree we do not have much to offer OKC. The only thing I can think of is taking on the contract of Nate Robinson and Aldrich for the TPE (he had a DNP last night). Frees up some cap space for OKC and gives the Raps a young C. I believe next year is still going to be be a developmental year for the Raps so Nate can be an expiring used next year and it will give the Raps a year to develop Aldrich.
Though honestly, OKC has too good of a FO to do this deal (though I would like it)

Any chance we ship out some of our young guys to Lakers for one of their big? Or perhaps do a three team trade to help ship Howard to the Lakers with us sending our young pieces to Magic?
Prob something like this:
Ed + Jose + JJ to Lakers for Bynum + Barnes
Or
Ed + Jose + JJ to Magic, Howard to Lakers, and Bynum + Barnes to us

If we'd be getting Bynum back, I'd rather deal our pick than Ed, considering where we're currently picking (with a C likely being the BPA with our pick)...then we could move forward with a beastly frontcourt with Bynum/Ed/Amir/Bargs. Although to be honest I'd be a bit iffy about that considering Bynum's contract, and injury concerns.

No thanks. Just feel we need one more solid piece coming back with us in order to make this deal look attractive from the Wolves perspective.

Look we'll give you Jose too but we just don't have any other point guards.

Re: 2010-11 Toronto Raptors Trade Ideas Thread
would anyone do this?
To NJ: Bargnani + Barbosa + Johnson
To TOR: Lopez + Morrow + Petro + Outlaw
Outlaw has a **** contract but i think Lopez would be a nice fit assuming we get Irving/Walker/Knight.
NJ gets a nice fit for Howard, unload some crap contracts and save money for Howard too.
Irving / Bayless
Derozan / Morrow
Outlaw / Klezia
Davis / Amir / Petro
Lopez / C (Calderon) / Alabi

yep I'd do that... I had proposed we consider doing Bargs (+J.Johnson, if needed) for Lopez+Outlaw before... although either way I'm not sure the Nets go for it, since they seem to think Lopez is the consolation prize they're going to use to land Dwight, and so they won't use him in a salary dump. But for us, this would be a solid move to get a young C to rebuild with. Hopefully he can get his rebounding at least back to where it used to be earlier.

would they rather JJ or Barbosa? Barbosa helps them win games next year. I just dont think theres anyway they can keep Morrow and make it work under the CBA unless its with cap space

yeah i was trying to make it work without him. It would have to be done with cap space though however.
Williams / Farmar
Morrow / Barbosa
Johnson / James
Bargnani / FA
FA / FA
is not bad.
Barbosa + Bargnani for Outlaw + Petro + Lopez + Graham
works without Johnson.
