If there's a Gay for Iggy deal being discussed I'm not sure we can top that unless the 76ers main motivation was for cap saving.

Watching the Grizz's success throughout the playoffs really makes me second guess how some of you are valuing Iggy. He's a rare two way player in this league.

Wouldn't the point of moving Iggy be to cut salary and give Turner more playing time? Or at least try to boost Philly's frontcourt? And the Grizzlies? Wouldn't they move Gay because Heisley needs to clear salary to pay Gasol? It's not like Iggy isn't really expensive too.

I'm a bit confused by this proposal.

OJ Mayo is one of the best defenders in the league, hes a two way player and hes a great passer and playmaker.

Gay is a really good player.

Gay at the start of a max deal is not a good trade value.

Iggy fits the same mold (as does Kaman). Very good players that are not stars, but I think a case could be made that none of them are worth their contract.

The Grizz have been a better team since Gay went down by playing defensive wings that defer to the front court with offense. Igoudala would seem to fit that mold much better than Gay. Heisley has said he intend to pay Gasol and has proven he's not as cheap as people think he is. With Grizzly fever caching on in Memphis now's probably not the time to dump salary at the expense of not improving the team.

Gay is not a player that needs the ball in his hands as much as Iggy or Turner to be successful. Iggy and Turner are a bad combo because neither can hit the pull up 3 very well and neither (especially Turner) is exceptional playing off the ball. The playing time is their for Turner right now, they just choose to play Jodie Meeks over him.

I could see a 3 way with MEM-MIN-PHI.

Something like...

MEM IN: Webster, Flynn, Tolliver, MEM Pick, Utah pick

MN IN: Iggy

PHI IN: Gay

PHI Gay isn't as ball dominant. Should work better with turner.
Mem gets some depth and picks. Take on less long term money after they extend gasol

Memphis would trade Gay away for that. :dontknow:

Maybe in a year or two but not now.

If they give...

Gasol 12m/yr
Battier 6m/yr

Brings them to: $74,934,676

Which is 5m over assuming the lux stays at a similar level.

That deal brings them under the tax ~+10m. Gives them future pieces, a pg with some upside, and solid vet contributers.

I don't think they'll bring Battier back for that. If they keep Gay they won't have the playing time for him.

In an interview with the Philadelphia Daily News, Sixers general manager Rod Thorn sidestepped a question about Andre Iguodala’s future with the team. Asked to address Iguodala’s refusal to commit to the Sixers long-term and the possibility of a trade, Thorn said:

“I don't know how to answer that. Unless you're a championship team or one small move away from a championship, your always looking to improve,” Thorn said.

“There are some players that are less likely to move than others. If you can make a deal that makes sense, either in short or long-term, you always look at it. It's obviously about acquiring talent, and obviously Andre is a very talented player who can help a team in more ways than most players can. I'm just trying to look at ways we can help our team.”

Iguodala has three years and $56 million remaining on his contract.

Stupid mistake, it's 3 years and 44 million remaining.

Nice catch. The 56 million includes this past year's salary.
