What do you mean by freelanced? Like too many random stupid obstacles or the people putting it on aren't organized?

I think some of the obstacles are dumb but the sky slope at the start kills you at the beginning and the monkey bars are probably brutal after running 7 miles.

Also, I just signed up for this:

Also, on obstacle is crossing a river with Monkey bars that shape a ^ upside down v. Any recommendations on how to train for those? Regular monkey bars but doing pull-ups in between bars?

If it's anything like grade school, it's all in your momentum.

Yeah, just random obstacles but now that I look at it again, maybe not. It looks really fun. I'll have to try it some day.

1 week later.

Right in that 2-3 pound a week window where I was pre-injury. I totally cheated yesterday too. Had a burger, fries, and a fried chicken leg for lunch ( not fast food). Failed again on Day 3 of the push ups, and just barely made my sit up quota.

Taking a rest day today. Was a little slow in my 5K last night. I added leg lifts and 2 other exercises to my weight training this week, and my body was definitely giving me some feedback during the run.

9 lbs in two weeks, that's pretty impressive.

Haven't been keeping track of the thread, but I'm starting P90X up again this Monday. Stopped working out after doing it last summer when I went back to school, feel a bit out of shape and ready to get working again. I'm like 187 right now, want to get to 175 by summers end. Anyone have any suggestions for things to complement P90X? I'm debating doing like a morning/evening run to go with the tapes or go shoot hoops every other day, maybe a designated swimming day? Looking for some ideas, really want to lose my damn love handles and actually feel skinny for once lol.

Imo you should set fitness goals independently of your weight. Maybe you get to the end of the summer at 187, but you're in tremendous shape and you can do things you've never been able to do before. Food for thought.

That is true too, I kinda thought I might end up adding muscle and staying constant. When I did it last year I was like 194 and ended up 182 so I was gunning for a similar result. Going from 187 to 175 is essentially the same gap. I guess maybe I should consider goals like how far I can run or just how I want to transform one part of my body. Probably need to focus on cardio and abs to fully get rid of the handles.

For me, it's that it can double as my preferred mode of transportation, as well as an intense cardiovascular workout. I can do interval training on a bike, that I wouldn't be able to do on my feet. It also never feels like I plateau. Continuously improving at something is always nice.

Now, if only God or whoever would do something about these winters. Though, I might end up getting a winter bike and some gear, to see if I can do it.

Lastly, my tip for those that want a low calorie/fat/carb source of protein: eat a can of drained tuna fish. About 100 calories and about 20 grams of protein, around $0.79 a piece regular price.

Here's a recipe I followed for a healthy tuna salad that's pretty damn awesome.

To make it even better I'd chop up a green apple and add a couple sticks of chopped celery.

Tastes amazing.

Agreed. Last night I biked to a neighboring town to play softball. Tonight I went in the opposite direction to play in a volleyball league. The time it takes isn't an issue. A five minute drive might take 15 or 20 minutes. Big deal. Buying a bike is the best decision I've made in a long time. It's a great workout, it's fun, it isn't something I dread doing.

Add me to the list of 100 pushups failures. I only got to 22/40 on my last set on week 5 day 1. I think I'll just repeat the day until I get it.

Props to you guys who can do any kind of push-up routine. That was the most humiliating part of P90x for me. I've always had skinny arms and no matter what kind of weight training I've ever done, adding muscle mass has always been nearly impossible.

I think I've failed because most of my fat is in my gut. I'm trying to push all of that extra weight off the ground.

I'm more of a skinny leg guy so yesterday I built one of these things so I can do some squats and build a little leg strength:

Same. I'm 6'2" with a naturally skinny frame. Before December I was 189 lbs and people would tell me how skinny I looked, yet I still had a gut. You can hide something like that with decent form fitting shirts and jeans, but I'd rather have muscle in my shoulders, arms and back with a flatter stomach. That's going to be my challenge in the coming months.

I've just started some squatting recently. It's absolutely embarrassing how little I can do. Then the guy who runs my gym comes in and throws four plates on a side and is doing it like I would do the bar.

This thread is awesome though, good for motivation. Currently getting in two nights of basketball, two of volleyball, and two of lifting per week, and doing P90's ab ripper 2-3 times per week. Forgot how much I want to smash Tony Horton's face with a bat.
