Today could potentially be the most dominant big man's last NBA game unless the 2 and a half men choke this game at home.

End of an era and a legendary career.

I want his jersey retired here. I'm probably hold the minority opinion, but he more than deserves it imo.

Shaq will always be a Laker to me, no matter what he did after he left. His jersey will be retired here soon enough (after Kobe's).

It was all cool till he chose to sign with Boston. Thanks for my earliest Lakers memories though, Big Diesel.

He's under contract next year and I doubt he wants to go out sitting on the bench in a suit ... I see him returning to the C's next year.

As for his laker days ... Shaq should DEFINITELY have his jersey retired at Staples and should enter the HOF as a Laker as well. I honestly wish we would have signed him this year to the cheap contract the Celts signed him to and wouldn't mind us using part of our TPE to get him from the Celts .... or even trading for he AND Delonte West. I'd give up Brown and a #2 before the draft for Shaq and West or even a Blake for Shaq and a re-signed West after the draft.

I'd love to see Shaq play his final year with Kobe and the Lake show ...

But if he signed here, he couldn't tie Kobe for rings.

That "one more than Shaq" comment after the finals last year probably blew up any chance of him coming back here :-?

No way Shaq can handle another season, what would be nice is if the Lakers can sign Shaq even for a day, just so he can retire a Laker. Would be a nice touch.

Shaq is NOT done unless he wants to be.

This year alone his per 40 minute averages were 18.1ppg, 9.5rpg, 2.2bpg ... that is sick. He also shot a career high 66.7% from the field and 3% higher than his career average from the line.

I'd take 9 point, 5 boards and a block a game for half a season as a back-up to Dwight anytime!

One of the reasons why I fell in love with basketball. I never saw another player dominate the game the way Shaq did during his peak.

I did my reminiscing a long time ago. I don't really care that he's retiring to be honest. To me, the Shaq I knew and loved, he retired from the game a long time ago.

Man seeing that puts a tear on my face. What an era of basketball that was. Staples center was rocking loud....it's pathetic what it has come down to.

I wasn't happy how he left and how things went but the man deserves credit for what he did as a Laker. MDE much respect.
