What's wrong with Farrell?
I'm not trying to be insulting, I'm actually serious. I haven't watched many games yet or had the chance to really follow the team closely until recently, but it seems like everyone has already turned on him. One poster recently suggested that he's worse that Cito, which I find hard to believe, to say the least. So please, enlighten me, what kinds of moves is he making that are so appalling?

Re: What's wrong with Farrell?
IMO - 3 big things - 1) he should take the freedom away from his baserunners and call for steals only in certain situations and 2) he has used Dotel in the wrong spots and 3) he's run some really funny lineups out there (but then again he does only have limited options to work with).
He has done some good things though too; no quick hook on the starters (which I personally love!), a couple of effective squeeze plays early on, he's obviously decided to trust JPA more than initially planned, he grabs a guy in the dugout who's made a mistake in the field and makes his point, and seems to have fostered some pretty decent team unity/chemistry.
I suppose if you have a problem with Reyes, some of the blame lands at Farrell's feet there too, as BOTH he and AA are reported to like the arm.

Is anybody here a marine biologist?

I think SharoneWright nailed it.. I think the main one (for me) is that he keeps using Dotel against lefties. I like what Farrell has done, not saying I want Cito back at all.
I don't mind the running game. I think on this team, only Davis should have the true "green" light.
Don't the Jays bullpen lead the league in IP? Not saying that correlates to quick-hooks on starters though, but it'd be nice to see them go deeper. Also, I didn't like that quick hook on Morrow on his last start.

Re: What's wrong with Farrell?
due to people's preference of style he obviously won't be liked/hated by everyone, but for me his utilization of pitchers has been the most frustrating part, which is weird considering he's a former pitcher. I do like the running game, but there have been some cases where I wish Farrell would just let the hitters take their at-bats instead of trying outsmart the opponent. Other than that there isn't really anything else major I would put against him. This roster still has long ways to go before before we can put much blame the manager for the lack of success.
