Re: 2011-12 Toronto Raptors Trade Ideas Thread Pt II
This trade assumes Chicago dumps Boozer somewhere, and Barbosa picks up his player option.
Raps trade:
Andrea Bargnani
Leandro Barbosa
Jerryd Bayless
Chicago trade:
Luol Deng
Kyle Korver
CJ Watson
Trade checker is unresponsive, but pretty sure this works...
Chicago gets their starting 2 guard, a better back up PG than CJ, but loses Kyle Korver (Their roster doesn't give me much leeway). Also, they replace Boozer who has sucked this year with Bargnani, and their offense improves, and like Dagger said in another thread, Taj is his defensive counterpart and they can swap him in when D is needed.
Raptors get a decent back up PG who plays defense, another good role player in Korver, and the main piece in Luol Deng, who only just turned 26, is fairly, young as well. He's better than any SF we could land in free agency. And plays amazing defense. Easily the best player on the Raps.
Still, it's a huge stretch and I don't think the Bulls do it, but it's out there...

Not sure if you guys check out the Suns board at all, but I proposed this trade a while ago and I don't have many Suns fans happy taking Bargnani who they believe is a overpriced, white Channing Frye. They also don't want a similar player to Aaron Brooks, when we already have... Aaron Brooks. I thought this trade made sense for the Raps if you guys are looking at getting expirings along with a decent draft pick. Brandon Roy isn't happy with Andre Miller, so the Blazers get two different style of point guards.
I'm not sure what the value of Andrea Bargnani is, so don't be offended, lol. This is also assuming you guys draft a point guard.
Not sure if I would do it. But it's a good idea. I'd hate to see Nash turn Bargnani into some scoring phenom. Seems to have that effect on players. We cant' agree on the value of Bargnani either so don't worry about that. Jose is destined to be a Blazer.
edit: as to assuming we draft a PG, than yeah I like the deal more.

NH wrote:This was brought up by Rapcast at Raptors Republic, but would you trade our 2011 draft pick and JJ/Linas to Memphis for Rudy Gay? If Memphis feels that they rather have Battier at SF than Gay, then they may need to trade Rudy to resign Marc Gasol. We also have the TPE, which is something BC can use.
Sign me up! I've always liked Gay. Funny thing, I was saying to somebody yesterday that Memphis looks to be a much more free-flowing team and have made it further with Gay on the bench. I'd definitely be interested. Problem is though that we don't have capspace for a deal involving Gay. It would have to be Bargnani/Calderon + Kleiza going out for us to have the space. He's pretty expensive and with the 2012 draft coming up, we may want to search for our SF there. Or I'd try to use or 2011 pick in a deal that would send Cousins our way.
But if not, Bargnani/Calderon would need to be sent to a 3rd team if Memphis' goal is to re-sign Gasol. Maybe something like:
To INDIANA: Bargnani
To MEMPHIS: Kleiza + TOR 2011 1st
To TORONTO: Gay + INDY 2012
This would clear enough room for Gay but that's a pretty big and long financial commitment. But here we send Bargs to Indy where he's be pair with a "traditional C" and will be able so score. Memphis gets money to re-sign Gasol and we give up Kleiza and our 2011 pick for Gay. We get a pick in return for Bargs as the team would likely be looking to make playoffs again it wont be that high but it's some kinda of leverage down the road somewhere.
Just a thought...

we need good young talent at all positions, but mostly at C/SF/PG (keeping in mind that we do have young guys in Jerryd Bayless and James Johnson at the 1/3, so if it's a PG/SF, they should at least be as good as those two).
Sanders is a C.
Standing reach:
Davis 9'0
Bargnani 9'2
Bogut 9'2.5
Howard 9'3.5
Sanders 9'4
He's looked far better at centre all season.

Call me crazy, but I'd love to take a chance on Cole Aldrich if he's available for a small price. He's not playing right now for OKC (or even dressing). I still feel he can be a serviceable C.

If we were to make that trade, our pick would be going to ATL.

I suspect with Presti adding Perkins there is no rush to move Aldrich.
He is still very young, has one year of d-league eligibility left, and is making around 2m which is not bank breaking.
I would gladly take a flyer on him if he was available, however I suspect the price would be too high

I don't think Atlanta is in a rush to rip it all down just yet.
The Hawks strike me as a team that would be looking to add a tough as nails five beside Horford/Smith not a Charmin Soft one like Bargnani.

Fair point. I imagine the price would probably still be too high. I suppose that after this year he'll take over the Nazr Mohammed role on that team.

Re: 2011-12 Toronto Raptors Trade Ideas Thread Pt II
I wonder if Dorell Wright is available, and if so, what would it take to acquire him? Perfect SF, to play alongside a scoring backcourt, or frontcourt. He'd be great next to a Irving-DeRozan backcourt, for example. I think he can defend very well, has all the tools, if he puts his mind to it, but didn't always defend well. It's somewhat understandable though, with two small guys, and David Lee starting by him, it's tough to cover for all those guys.
As an aside, I'm really hoping James Johnson improves his 3pt shot/jumper. If he can do what Wright did in improving his jumper, we'd have a steal in Johnson. But, I'd still like to acquire a SF, if not Wright, then somebody like Francisco Garcia or Brandon Rush.

If we got Kyrie then no Dorrell wouldn't be that amazing.
Wright is great to help distribute for a PG who's more scoring oriented in the mold of Hedo (gasp - the point forward for Jameer), as he would be nice for Bayless. With Irving, he wouldn't be as effective or necessary cuz Kyrie does just fine running a team....although I would still like him as a pick up.

True, but still, he's pretty good in transition, as both a finisher, and a spot-up 3pt shooter. Also, has some leadership ability, from what I've seen. Good glue guy. Again, if we believe James Johnson will come back with the ability to hit the 3 consistently when open, then the need for Wright decreases a little. I'd still try to see if we can get him regardless though.

Throw in our first round pick and they won't spit in our face when it gets rejected.
Ellis is a top 5 SG. Oh yeah, and hes only 25.

Toronto Raptors trade:
Andrea Bargnani
Solomon Alabi
1st round draft pick 2011
Raptors get:
Robin Lopez
Omri Casspi
Jason Thompson
1st round draft pick (from Suns)
Sacramento Kings trade:
Omri Casspi
Jason Thompson
Kings get:
Andrea Bargnani
Phoenix Suns trade:
Robin Lopez
1st round draft pick
Suns get:
Solomon Alabi
1st round draft pick (from Raptors)
Raptors solidify their center presence and allow their young players to continue developing as planned. They would be able to immediately improve defensively and on the boards. They also acquire another strong shooter in Omri Casspi which will enable them to spread the floor more for DeRozan to attack the basket.
Bayless / Calderon
DeRozan
Johnson / Casspi / Kleiza
Johnson / Davis
Lopez / Thompson
They would still have two open roster spots to be filled by some veterans to help groom the young'ns.
Kings would now be able to start Cousins and Bargnani on the court at the same time. Bargnani could slide to the four defensively and continue playing his role on offensive as a mismatch. His game would also be flourish out west where Offense is much more important.
Evans / Udrih
Garcia / Taylor
Green /
Bargnani / Whiteside
Cousins / Dalembert
They could also get a few veterans and some help at the SG position. (luckily Barbosa is available along with other very options)
Phoenix trades away a player in whom they seem to have lost interest and acquire another project Center. They also receive a higher pick and the opportunity of selecting an impact player in Kemba Walker who would be able to help the team out earlier rather than later.
Nash / Dowdell
Walker / Carter / Childress
Dudley / Lawal
Warrick
Gortat / Frye / Siler
They should be able to bring back Grant Hill and hopefully get rid of Carter's contract and minutes to make space for Kemba Walker (whom they would most likely select with the Raptors' draft pick)
Andrea Bargnani
Solomon Alabi
1st round draft pick 2011

wright shoots way too much, isnt even efficient at scoring and is a volume scorer, he can only excel under certain coaches and systems...wont fit in toronto imo

Dagger made this comment on a different thread:
It got me thinking that maybe OKC would be a good trading partner. I wasn't able to get a straight trade so I had to use the TPE in two separate trades:
Trade #1
To Toronto
Nate Robinson (1 year, 4.5 million) - TPE
Cole Aldrich ($2.2 million next year - options up until 2015) - TPE
Royal Ivey (1 year, 1.2 million) or BJ Mullins (pretty much the same). - TPE
Trade #2
To OKC
Bargs for cap space
Reason for Toronto - get a young C who could grow with the team. Shed salary. Ivey can be a 3rd PG (or cut) and Robinson could be used as an expiring.
Reason for OKC - Get some offense in the front court.
Mind you - Raps are giving up on a former #1 AND have to give away most of Bosh's TPE - but it is an opportunity to start fresh with a young asset in Aldrich.
Bargnani is not the C they are looking for because they have Kevin Love, but Bargnani has good trade value and shouldn't be sold short. His skillset would work on several teams that lack frontcourt offence, they just have to pair him with a defensive oriented help defender. Watching OKC struggle last night to score, I thought the combination of Perkins, Collison and Ibaka - any two of those three on the court at the same time - is part of the reason teams are able to blanket their perimetre guys. If they could send in a scoring big like Bargnani, even as a sixth man type, they'd be able to open up more room for their perimeter scorers.
