Vote Bautista, Blue Jays to All-Star Game

Post#1 » by LittleOzzy » Wed Apr 27, 2011 1:10 am

Blue Jays right fielder Jose Bautista will have a chance to make it back-to-back seasons as an American League All-Star after being named to this year's ballot.

Bautista made his All-Star game debut last season during a breakout season in Toronto. The 30-year-old was named to the team as a reserve player, and honoured for what eventually became a banner campaign.

The Dominican native led the Major Leagues last season with 54 home runs and 351 total bases. He also ranked third in the American League in RBIs (124), slugging percentage (.617) and OPS (.995).

That was good enough for a fourth-place finish in voting for the AL Most Valuable Player, and he has backed that up with an impressive start to the 2011 season.

Fans can cast their votes for starters up to 25 times daily at MLB.com and all 30 club sites -- online or via your mobile device -- using the 2011 All-Star Game MLB.com Ballot Sponsored by Sprint until June 30 at 11:59 p.m. ET.

Starting rosters will be announced during the 2011 All-Star Game Selection Show on TBS on July 3. Baseball fans around the world will then be able to select the final player on each team via the 2011 All-Star Game Final Vote Sponsored by Sprint.

And the voting doesn't end there. Fans will have the opportunity to participate in the official voting for the Ted Williams Most Valuable Player Award, presented by Chevrolet at the Midsummer Classic via the 2011 All-Star Game MVP Vote Sponsored by Sprint.

Should be. I voted 25 times for my main email already. AL outfield is pretty weak.

Yankees and Red Sox players (Crawford, Granderson, Swisher, etc) will still get more votes than Bautista probably. Unless he does something that's impossible to ignore, I guess.

Ichiro also has the entire country of Japan, too.

He will make it, but being voted in is a popularity contest. He is not the big name star that usually gets voted in, and the Jays are not relevant enough in their own city to pump in the votes like they did during their vintage years. Put the choice in the fans hands, and it will just lead to Ichiro and a whole bunch of Yankees/Red Sox.

Bautista will make it in regardless. Just stay away from the home run derby, Jose.

i was going to mention this as well..

however, it probably wants to do it, seeing as he was snubbed from competing in the contest last year.

I would expect him to be our representative regardless, but hopefully he gets voted in.

Should be a coronation rather than a vote.

This thread feels a tiny bit more legitimate than the "vote bargnani to the all star game" threads on the raps board haha

Voted. Hopefully people from outside Toronto (Canada) will vote for him as well,
he's been absolutely tearing it up so far this year

Voted once this afternoon

Watching some games with the opponents broadcaster and definitely noticed the broadcasters saying Bautista might be the best player in baseball. If he keeps on playing like he is that talk will get louder and hopefully he gets voted in by non-blue jays fans. His numbers are impossible to ignore.

What an awesome player!!! its been amazing watching him this weekend, he put the team on his back.
