We could have had Chandler...

We could have had Chandler for two glue horses and a Tryst bar tab.

It's missing opportunities like this and Chicago's bench moves that separate "realGMs" from those in the conference finals.

Crawford is our only example in a decade of how it should be done and we might lose him.

My wish list for next season. Trade Horford plus*** maybe Hinrich (expiring) for Howard. Re-sign Jamal and go after unrestricted guys like Chandler and Kris Humphries to replace Horford.

Thoughts?

I don't think anyone would object to getting Dwight, but it's a pipe dream TBQH. I DO think we could put together the best package of anyone in the league, but I can't see Orlando moving him.

I have no interest in resigning Jamal, particularly for what he is and what he will be asking for.

Chandler will get resigned to a nice fat final contract.

IDK, I think that Dwight would like to play with Josh myself and Horford an consecutive All-Star obv. played @ UF and would be a market move that has some legitimacy.

As for Bogut I'm not sold. Doesn't mean I couldn't talk myself into it. He is a solid tier 1.5 center.

I hope the extra series in the ATL this year give management a little taste of a profit and they continue to tune the club.

We have great talent. They just all do the same thing. The successful next level teams have more balance and have players that excel in their particular roles allowing for the match ups to be exploited.

Its not about getting lucky, it's all about management and ownership. Wanting to win is not the same as winning.

Please go over to the MIL board and you'll see they admit that Horford is too much for Bogut. They know Horford's better. Why don't more of us?

PS -- I love Bogut but take a peek at his games played. He gets injured a lot.

Smith for Bogut? Yes. Horford? No.

Personally, I've been trying to talk them into Joe/Hinrich for Bogut/Salmons/Gooden.

I would be in favor of trading Josh for Bogut (instead of Horford), and find a way to move JJ to the 3. It just seems to me that we need more size and strong rebounding down low and then surround them with shooters. Teague might be great for us in that he would be able to penetrate and play solid D and let the others do most of the scoring. We just need a good option at the 2. Perhaps Salmons can fill in, but I'd like to have a younger, more athletic guy there eventually.

Bogut is a horrible free throw shooter and doesnt dominate like shack. Smith alters games and I think wee are better off with Horford and Josh over Bogut and Horford.

That said it is a little contradictory to my earlier statement about team balance but hey, we made it to the second round and Mil didn't see the playoffs.

Missing on Chandler points out one problem - a HUGE problem - that I've noticed for about 40 years concerning the Hawks: we have pitiful scouting.

When the front office doesn't know more about players than the posters on a message board, there's some incompetent scouting going on. I daresay most of us pooh-poohed the idea of getting Chandler when he was available. Most of us thought he was finished and overpriced with CHAR.

But of course we don't know what's going on, we're on the outside. Those on the inside are paid to know. That they don't is damning.

actually its Teague, Johnson, Smith, Sanders, Bogut
or
Hinrich, Johnson, Williams, Horford, Bogut

Marvin Williams is still in the lineup at SF and versus Miami or Chicago JJ does not have the advantage versus Deng or Lebron. He plays shooting guard because he can at least draw some fouls against Wade or Bogans or Korver or Brewer.
