MIL fans trying to package Salmons with Bogut.

Post#1 » by parson » Sun May 15, 2011 7:19 pm

The price for getting Bogut is dropping. The MIL fans are no longer asking for 2 or even all 3 bad contracts (Salmons/Maggette/Gooden) to be assumed as the price for getting Bogut, but just one.

Do we bite NOW or ... what could possibly be the objection? Would you take Salmons if it meant getting Bogut?

Personally, I'd take Salmons AND Gooden if it meant Bogut.

Hi, this is my first post so go easy on me. I say go for it, getting Bogut would get this team to the next step, if that means taking on a bad contract then why not?

Hell yeah I would take Bogut.

I think he is the 3rd best center in the NBA.

Bogut is very well rounded, an elite defender and can score too if Milwaukee give him the ball more often. I think he is definately better value than Horford.

Marvin + Horford for Bogut + Salmons would be a huge win for Hawks imo.

Smith would still be a 6'8 PF. We start Salmons? no thanks lateral move unless there is some other all star PF im overlooking?

how is it a lateral move?!?!

Bogut is a far superior C then horford.

and it is physically impossible for salmons to provide as little impact as marvin williams does on the court.

hawks would be robbing the bucks

Everyone who thinks trading Horford for Bogut would be a good move is not thinking it through.

Smoove would still be undersized, and would still take those jumpshots. We'd still have close to no post scoring. We'd also lose any hope of ever breaking 85 PPG.

So we trade Smith and Hinrich for Bogut/Salmons.

Or we offer Joe/Hinrich for Bogut/Salmons/Gooden. They may not be able to say no to that.

I don't wnat to trade one of Al or Josh for nothing, but would look at all the offers.
Now, I disagree on one point : the post scoring, because Josh has at this moment more post-scoring than Al. I know he could continue to take jumpshots, and I don't like it at all, but maybe with a better coach, and one he's not familiar with, he would listen and play.

I would prefer to trade Josh than Al in majority of trades, but if we could get a real coach, I would certainly change and trade Horford.
And if we could change coach and owners, I would try to keep both and add a C.

No coach is going to undo those habits that Josh has accumulated over the years. At this point he is what he is.

from Atlanta
Marvin Williams + Kirk Hinrich + Al Horford
from Milwaukee
Larry Sanders + Andrew Bogut + John Salmons + Drew Goodens contract

Jeff Teague/John Salmons (big guards that can post up Derrick Rose)
Joe Johnson/John Salmons
Josh Smith (228-230lbs)/John Salmons
Larry Sanders/Josh Smith/Gooden
Andrew Bogut/Zaza Pachulia/Jason Collins/Gooden
::::::+draft blue collar bigs, guards, (have enough forwards)

we get even value for Bogut and a blue collar 7'6 wingspan with one year already under his belt in Sanders.
Milwaukee gets rid of two contracts bcuz they are not in "win now" mode.

We basically become Milwaukee + Smith + Joe Johnson + Teague + Pachulia.

OFF* DEF*
103.2 104.6
99.0 99.9

*OFF: Points scored per 100 possessions
*DEF: points allowed per 100 possessions
::
Sanders potential and blocks 3 shots per game per 36 minutes. He bulks up a little and learns not to foul/gets the refs on his side. We have an average wingspan of 7'2.75 on our frontline (3-4-5).

Drew gets a defensive coach to help out and we run more PG-SF/ PG-SG pick and rolls and clear outs and get the ball. We basically become our own version of Chicago.

Defense rebounding and athleticism. We got rid of Marvin and got a sounder PF/C combination that can compete with Asik, Noah, Boozer, and Gibson.

sounds good, but I wouldn't bite on picking up gooden's contract too, I mean if they're asking for only one of those bad contracts I wouldn't take on the other one if we don't need to.

realgm hawks fans are a mess. We aren't trading Horford unless it's for Dwight.

Are you sure about that? I don't see Horford ever becoming the defensive stopper Dwight is. Al isn't a franchise, he's a good second or third option, but come on now. These packages aren't that bad in my opinion, they wouldn't be a steal for either team but they wouldn't be bad nonetheless. I do love Al when he's on his game.

Bogut is a no brainer for Atlanta. Please convince me on why you think we should persist with Horford.

The way I see it (and stats will back me up) is Bogut is better defensively, better rebounder and is bigger than Horford.

Horford has a better jump shot, marginally better offensively (but I think Bogut can improve) and has been less injury prone.

The advantages on having Bogut at the no. 5 over Horford outweigh the disadvantages, I actually think that his scoring averages can get better too if he was utilized more often on offense. Its hard to get the ball if you have Jennings (and before him Redd) running the team and taking most of the shots. Salmons too appears to be a 2nd option before Bogut.

Marvin Williams kills this team going forward.

Ideally:
1) Teague develops over the summer and comes in as a starter. Has trade value.
2) Josh Smith is commited to as SF. Loses 15 pounds thru 2 a days. Work ethic publicized.
Gains speed and consistency back. Has trade value.
3) Bogut's rehab is done by start of season. Ready to start with Pachulia, Collins, Gooden backing him up. Alternately Pachulia starts.
4) Larry Sanders continues to bulk up and it helps him develop his inside-out game. can play predominantly PF but a little C with 7'6 wingspan. Alternatively, Drew starts Gooden because he likes Jump Shooters. Don't see it happening. Bill Russell's illegitimate son. : D
::::

Cumulatively Sanders/Smith/Gooden/Bogut/Salmons outweigh any combination of Horford and Williams starting and losing Crawford with no bench.
