Outside fan curious on Nash's future
So me and my friends have had this discussion recently about Steve Nash and we were just curious what the Sun's fans were thinking what is in store for Nash's future. We were basically arguing whether Nash would take a chance to go to a team such as the Heat for example to try to make a final push for a championship before he retires or even just change scenery and go to a new team. I remember seeing a video of a Nash interview right around the end of the regular season and he was referencing to how he wants to finish his career on the Suns and try to help rebuild the team. Personally I consider Nash to have too much pride to go and chase a ring so my thoughts are he will stay a Sun unless the franchise thinks otherwise and wants to rebuild without him.
Sorry if you guys get questions similar to this often but I was just interested in the Sun's fans perspective on the situation of Nash and his future.

Re: Outside fan curious on Nash's future
Welcome.
The biggest reason I feel Nash is going absolutely nowhere (at least not through trade) is that there are no logical partners. Championship contenders either have no room , don't play the style, have nothing to give up, or already have a star PG.
It's simply not feasible. Add that to the fact that Nash seemingly doesn't see a ring as a MUST HAVE to judge his career, and you have a guy who's going to stay where he is because he's happy overall.
I don't think he'd want to leave a system that is (well, ideally.....not in practice anymore with the talent around him) tailor-made for him.
Of course, we're the Suns....so nothing will surprise me.

Exactly.
He's not the kind of guy you just dump somewhere. The trade has to make sense for him, which means a contender that could utilize his skills. The only place I can think of that makes sense for him is Dallas.
But I can't come up with a single Dallas-Phoenix trade that makes sense for either trade partner. You'd have to gut Dallas to find anything valuable for Phoenix. Why would they do that when they're playing at a high level?

Babby would have a helluva hard time explaining that move after his 'moon, the sun and the stars' statement and " there's nothing to be gained by blowing it up"
I'll bet whatever you like he extends

and to top it off, both Kidd and Barea are playing great for them

Outside fan curious on Nash's future
The opinions are very divided. I would say 60% would prefer to retain Nash and the remaining would like to trade him for pieces. I'm going for the latter.
You should never have two 38 year olds carry the entire team. I will trade him if we get legit pieces in return. It's not about him it's about the future of this team.

Re: Outside fan curious on Nash's future
I came for Nash. I stayed for the SuperCoolBeas gif.
This issue is a tough one that no one really knows for sure. We had the insider report during the season that Nash wanted this year to be his final run for success and since this year bombed, he'd want out this offseason.
Then when the season ended he publicly came out and said the Suns were his team and he wanted to continue being a part of it. He may have changed his mind, he may have never said he wanted to be traded, or he may just be saying what he's suppose to in interviews while still a member of the Suns. Who knows?

Re: Outside fan curious on Nash's future
I think it is Nash's call
He's a seat filler so management has no probs extending him.... and he is a class act so they'd fulfill his request to move on. As it is, neither party is upset with the status quo. I am sure Nash would help facilitate an exchange for some value if a sign and trade situation came about. I think given the present personnel, Phnx will be a borderline to better play off contender next yr. I 'd doubt you'd see a mid season deal unless we are blowing bad.
Management sits back and listens to offers, but really, the likelihood of a 'Godfather-ish' proposal is slim.

had to toss this one in too....

Re: Outside fan curious on Nash's future
I think as long as Sarver is still in charge, he's going to "reload" again and again and milk whatever Nash has left until he retires. If we're going to be mediocre without Nash anyway, we might as well milk whatever he has left for another 2-3 seasons rather than go into mediocrity now. That's what I think Sarver's mindset is so I think we're going to keep Nash unless we somehow get an offer we can't refuse as Frank mentioned.

Re: Outside fan curious on Nash's future
Did we all forget when his agent came out a few months ago and said it would be best if he was traded this summer? Do you think he did that on his own accord? Come on guys, lets face reality. I am a huge nash fan and dont want to see him leave, but the writings on the wall are enough for me to accept it.

But Nash has continued to say that he wants to stay. So I guess I would believe him over his agent. But who knows? I would rather he stayed and then when he retires, remains with the team as a shooting/offense coach.

Re: Outside fan curious on Nash's future
Dallas is giving me hope again that it's possible to get that window opened again.
However, they have Dirk and we HAD Amar'e.
With what we have now. If we could swing a deal that lands us Brand and Iggy, then I'd say we have a shot. But since it sounds like we have nothing to offer, I think blowing it up is the safest option.

Would you guys take Dallas' Rodrique Beaubois+ fillers for Nash?

Yuk, no thanks.
Even if we wanted to go in that direction, we have Aaron Brooks, who is twice the player Beaubois is.

Re: Outside fan curious on Nash's future
It’s clear that the teams that were labeled “title contenders” at the beginning of the season can’t produce the pieces needed for a Nash trade, but what about a newer contender, what about Memphis…
They have several young players to make the trade happen and could you imagine Nash running an offense with Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph in their front court?

Maybe, in a deal for Gay so they can shed contract, but they have to be awfully happy in how Conley has progressed - I thought he played exceptionally well for them
But if you look at it, the Grizz have little to give up that the Suns need
I would be intrigued at trying Gay at SG though .....

Re: Outside fan curious on Nash's future
I think if Memphis was willing to trade for Nash, I, as a Suns fan would welcome maybe a deal like this.
Gay, Mayo, Conley
for
Nash, Hill
