don't know if this deserved another thread or not, but here's Heisley's stance on trading Rudy Gay:

"Would you please make it clear that we're not trading Rudy Gay?" explained Heisley.

Calkins said he explained the rampant rumors to Heisley who said pretty clearly that trading Rudy Gay was the furthest from the truth.

"It (ticks) me off. I think it's cruel to the guy," explained Heisley. "He died during this period. That's how much he wanted to play. And to now have to hear that we're trading him? There's nothing more untrue than that."

"Let me tell you something," said Heisley. "No disrespect to Oklahoma City, but if we had had Rudy Gay, we would have won the bleepity-bleep series going away. I really believe that."

"Rudy is one of our best players and a big part of what we plan to do in the future," Heisley said.

Also, on Marc Gasol:
As for retaining free agent Marc Gasol who may be eligible for restricted free agency if it exists in the next Collective Bargaining Agreement. Heisley says it's about more than just paying Gasol, something he says he's open to doing. Heisley says it's about Gasol wanting to be in Memphis.

"I'm not going to sit and pay a contract which everyone says is ridiculous," said Heisley. "But my intention is to bring Marc back. If he wants to be here, he will find I will be very, very receptive."

Not thanks, I'd prefer Kyrie, Williams, and Kanter (perhaps a few other players as well, depending on how the combine/workouts go) over Holiday.

yeah I can see BC aiming for another playoff run and exec of the year after re-upping... but you're being a little ridiculous. We'd just send the maximum allowed $3 million in cash, and JO would probably have a player option for the following year.

What's your reasoning because I can't find a reason why Houston gives up Lowry to move up 9 spots.

Maybe they really really like someone at that spot  LOL I really really want Lowry on this team, he is the PG we need. Looking back, that is a sloppy trade...

Kleiza fits into their tough / hardworking mold ala Allen, Powe, Arthur, Young

Gay was a huge part of that team but with them making such a run without him maybe they would be open to moving him especially with that price tag.

luenell is probably right though and Mayo will probably be the odd man out

This doesn't save the Griz money and they lose the best player in the trade. I could maybe see Bargs + cap relief for Gay. The cap relief would save the Griz money to keep Mayo around so the trade for them would boil down Bargs + Mayo for Gay which might not be bad for them. That said, couldn't they get more cap relief and possibly a better player than Bargs elsewhere? i.e. here are some other options I could see for the Griz.

--> Denver - re-signed Wilson Chandler for Gay. Would save the Griz $7-8mill/yr and give them a nice option at the SF spot.
--> Golden State - Ellis for Gay? Saves the Griz $5mill/yr and gives them an explosive SG scorer. They could then flip Mayo for a SF.
--> Sacremento - Gay for cheap depth (Thompson + Casspi + 1st pick). Saves them tonnes of $$$ and gives them some solid young roleplayers.

I think they like Biyombo more... if they wanted Kanter they wouldn't trade with us imo, I don't see both the Jazz and Cavs passing on him.

Do we want Michael Beasley?

I know we turned him down in the Bosh sign-and-trade, but he's much better than James Johnson and only has 2 more guaranteed years on his contract @ 5m/season

Maybe we can do

Minnesota trade: Beasley

Toronto trades: Future 1st round pick (protected) + Linas Kleiza/Trade Exception

Toronto Trades

Jose Calderon
Leandro Barbosa
Fifth Selection 2011 Draft

Phoenix Trades

Steve Nash
Josh Childress
13th Selection 2011 Draft

Why for the Suns?

They get some adequate backcourt help that is still relatively younger than Nash and the 5th overall selection. With the fifth overall selection, look for the Suns to take someone like Enes Kanter or Brandon Knight depending on how the draft will play out.

Calderon/5th pick (Walker, Knight)
Pietrus/Barbosa
Dudley/Warrick
Frye/FA/Lawal
Gortat/Lopez

FA: Brooks, Hill, and VC

Why for Raptors?

They get a perfect master for Bayless to learn from. Here Nash also gets to ride out the rest of his career in Toronto and serve as a mentor for the upcoming Bayless. Also, the Raptors get some more size and defence at the wing position in Childress, who in a pinch can play SF as well. The Raptors trade out of the top 10 and select Canadian Tristan Thompson 13th overall.

Nash/Bayless
DeRozan/Childress
FA/J.Johnson
Davis/Thompson
Bargnani/A.Johnson

FA: Evans, Wright, Weems and Dorsey

Here the Raptors can add that necessary piece or two via free agency. Having Steve Nash as your PG will only help bring in that talent via Free agency.

Thoughts?
