Big former WWE name debuting in TNA *spoiler*

Post#1 » by skbucks1985 » Wed May 4, 2011 2:36 am

For those that have been following TNA have seen that there has been a storyline where Kurt Angle has a "mistress." That individual will be revealed on the 5/12 edition of Impact which was taped tonight.

I think the storyline is pretty stupid and should've ended with Angle going over at either of the last two PPV's. Having said that, TNA certainly didn't disappoint with the identity of the mistress as it will be Joanie Laurer better known as Chyna. I was genuinely surprised when I read this something that only happens a few times a year in wrestling for me.

I will add that she's a big enough name and its been almost exactly 10 years since she's made a wrestling-based appearance, not counting Indy and overseas shows. Because of this TNA made a mistake in how they brought her in. They should've fully promoted her appearance to attempt to get better ratings. A lot of wrestling fans would watch solely out of curiosity

I don't see it. I'm a mark for these kinds of things, and seeing her name in this thread left me pretty disappointed.

Maybe that's because she's been on the bad side of reality shows (of the train wreck kind, rather than the celebrity intrigue kind) since she's been gone.

I can't disagree with anything you said and in this case different strokes I guess. As a sporadic TNA watcher I'm going to watch or atleast catch the replay on youtube because this is a woman who a few things turn out differently could've become the WWF Champion and its been 10 years since she last appeared on TV. And in that time she's disgraced herself and others in the industry and now she's coming back and I'd like to atleast see how it'll transpire.

Did she look like she was in shape? Or was she an absolute mess? I literally have only made it through one episode of TNA so I didn't watch. Barely know when it comes on.

I have to say I'm with the other poster disappointed reading Chyna's name. When I read the title I was expecting something better, this was a let down.

Sort of OT - For those that follow TNA regularly, how is Kurt Angle doing on that show? He was one of the best in WWE, I guess he's staying there for the lighter workload but I'd love to see him return to the WWE.

My Favourite Kurt Angle Moment was when he came out with the Milk Truck mocking Steve Austins Beer Truck. Classic.

I would have laughed if it was McCool.

Chyna was in horrendous shape, physically and mentally. Did she really get her **** together that quickly?

The show doesn't air until 5/12 so I can't tell you how she looked there'll probably be pictures some time before the show.

I'll admit there are plenty of names bigger than her: Psycho Sid, Macho Man, Jericho, Shelton Benjamin, Rick Steiner, etc. etc although technically Macho and Steiner wouldn't be debuting in TNA. Regardless, when you realize its a woman which becomes clear after the first sentence of my post and in that regard, there aren't a whole lot of bigger names. If we count Trish as a WWE employee which she probably is even if its not as a talent, and McCool still has a 90 day no-compete clause although I'd say Chyna is a bigger name than McCool anyway and Sunny has a legends contract which I think allows them to do Indy shows bur probably precludes them from doing televised appearances. After them, I'd say there are 4 people for whom an argument could be made are bigger names than her: Sable, Stacy Kiebler, Lita and Torrie. Stacy isn't coming, simple as that and neither is Sable. Torrie and Lita, I could see it happening even if I'd consider both unlikely. But if she's one of the three most famous realistic options I'd say that's pretty big.

He's pretty much solidified himself as the best wrestler on the planet with great match after great match. His matches with Joe and Anderson are pretty well considered classics by most people.

I wish he was still in WWE or would return but I'm pretty sure he doesn't want the workload. It's too bad.

I could see him at the very least doing one more match for the WWE before he retires.

^^^ I, unfortunately, disagree. I think once Kurt decides to retire it'll be because he literally can't take a bump anymore or it would ve very risky for him to do so.

I could honestly not be less excited about this. Does anyone really care to see Chyna back in wrestling? Seriously? People are really reaching for TNA to do ANYTHING that matters.

Any old, washed up, once famous wrestler I pretty much expect to show up in TNA at this point. It seems that their business plan for the last couple of years has been to basically grab a handful of used darts and throw them all at the board hoping to hit a bullseye. Makes it hard to take anything they do seriously (as bad as that sounds in pro wrestling.)

If you followed TNA at all, you'd know that "having your sh*t together" is right behind "knows how to wipe ones' self after taking a sh*t" in TNA's hierarchy of evaluating former WWE talent. Exhibit A: Jeff Hardy. Exhibit B: Scott Hall. Exhibit C: Sean Waltman.

Yea that company will take any WWF castoff, regardless of talent. Bringing Chyna in was a good idea a dozen years ago. Next im waiting for them to dig up Luger

I don't think the Impact zone is handicapable.

Just saw the match from Sacrifice and while physically she looks the best she has in years, her ring work was completely atrocious. They should have either booked this angle with her in it months ago, so that she had time to train and knock some of the rust off, or they should've just scrapped it altogether. She looked really bad on a basic body slam of Jarrett and the suplex looked pretty sketchy too.

I was surprised at the "pop" she got from that crowd though. Even though they work in front of some pretty small crowds, the people in attendance really got hyped about her for some reason.

LOL. Chyna is and has always been terrible. Overrated. Knockouts Division is gonna tremble even further.
