Trading up, Trading down or Trading out?

Do you see the Raptors in any way looking to move the 5th pick in some way?

I'm not talking about some fantasy where we end up with the 1st pick, but is there any reason we should be looking to move the pick up, down or out of the draft?

Well, if Minnesota really is looking at trading down/out from 2, I would give that a try. I wouldn't give up DeRozan or Davis to get there but Williams is much more appealing to me than some of the options available at 5.

I think all these options are possibilites, maybe with the exception of trading the pick outright.

I think BC would love to get into the top 2, but that will be tough. I can see the Raps trading down a couple spots, while saving some money and getting the player they're big on later. And I can also see them staying and picking at 5.

Should be interesting.

I'm fine with trading out, but the pick has almost no value at this point. If the right deal comes along, sure make a move, otherwise do your homework and pick at 5 and hope for the best.

As others have already mentioned, I think I trade with Utah seems most logical (assuming Utah is as high on Knight as is being reported). It makes no sense for them to take Knight at 3 when he would be guaranteed to be available at 5. It really wouldn't take much to get this done, as Utah would be getting their choice player at a lower salary. The Raptors could then take Kanter at 3. If Utah isn't going to take Knight at 3, then I would simply stay at 5 and draft Knight. In any case, the Raptors need to land Knight or Kanter.

Yeah this. Only if we can get Williams otherwise trading up is pointless.

Nothing Colangelo has said suggests to me that he's interested in Kanter. In a PF/C, he wants a lane intimidator, protect-the-rim type guy, and is increasingly willing to take on a project. So my guess is we're content to take BB or JV at 5.

Depending on the hole we're seeking to fill through the draft, our main tradeable chips have to be JJ (to get D-Will) and Bayless. But we can't trade Bayless without a PG coming back. Trading Bayless and the pick just to get Walker or Knight makes no sense, and getting Irving is impossible. So that just won't work. It has to be trading JJ to get a better SF.

It all depends on whether Williams really is a legit NBA 3. T-wolves might be interested in him on that basis, but an undersized PF who shoots 3s would be a bit redundant. I would think they would want to match Love with BB, who they can get at 5. A JJ/BB/Love front court has some possibilities.

I don't see Colangelo trading up unless its for #2, possibly #3 in the hope of taking Williams. I don't think we'd trade down, but I could see us potentially trading out if we're able to land a young guy we like on another team (like a Batum, Gallinari, etc.). My guess is we stay at 5.

I think Minn and Utah are likely partners to trade up with.

Utah needs help at the 2/3, but there really isn't anything available to them that high.

Minnesota doesn't want to get younger.

I'd trade up without shedding too much talent.

Trading down doesn't seem like an option in this draft. I don't really think anyone is giving any decent assets for a 5th pick.

Trading out would be silly, unless we are recieving someone back that locks up C/SF/PG for the future.

katner at 3, walker/knight at 5, a guard like burks at 12.

Its likely that Utah reaches for a point guard with the number 3 pick, so i'd say its possible to trade picks with them, depending we give them some sweetener.

Like others have mentioned, we're in a good position with stockpiled assets and players to make a move.

If Minnesota is moving out, we already know that Kevin Love endorses Bayless a lot. Even with Rubio, Bayless could be an combo guard for them. Then we have the Great Magician, Il Mago, who averaged a really good season and would look nice with the rebounding sensation Kevin Love. Im not sure if Minnesota still has the TPE from the Jefferson trade, but if they do, it'll be used.

Bargnani + Bayless + James Johnson = 2nd overall pick?

Bayless + 5th pick for the 2nd?

James Johnson and even Amir for the 2nd?

Or if that's not working, Utah is still there and I think they would move down for an offer of Bayless + 5th.

demar is the closest thing we have to the face of the franchise. two picks in a weak draft will not net utah the shooting guard it so desperately needs.
