If Barea is latino and not white, then tony parker must be white because his nationality is from france. There's a difference between ethnicity and nationality.

If Barea is Latino (cultural classification) and not white (racial classification)

THEN

Tony Parker must be white (racial classification) because he's from France (national classification).

Just because you're nationally French doesn't mean you're necessarily white either. Guadaloupe is 71% Black Africans. The reason people would consider Tony Parker black would be because of the one-drop rule.

I was pointing out Latino is neither an ethnicity nor nationality and the analogy doesn't make sense regardless. People on these forums should stick to talking about basketball.

Because I know there are a lot of stupid people out there who don't realize Puerto Rico is a nationality, not a race.

75.8% of puerto ricans classify themselves AS WHITE...that means 75% of the population or Puerto Rico is white. Not everyone from Puerto Rico looks the same.

JJ Barea's family is from Leon, Spain.

White - Non-hispanic

So yes, he is white. I think every business in americas classifications hold more weight than Fat Joes fat ass.

Well first of all, many Spaniards have Moorish (mixed African, European and Semitic) blood. Many also secretly have Jewish blood because the Jews followed the Arabs to Spain to exploit the occupation and were consequently forced to convert during the Inquisition.

So the fact that Barea's family is from Spain doesn't mean **** racially. If you're going to be a hardass about it get your facts straight.

"White" can mean a couple of things Anthropologically. Scientists have no set definition and largely it depends on the political climate. Early in the 19th century when the scientific definition of race was invented white was Caucasian, which means Indians and Pakistanis as well as Central Asians and Europeans were "white." (The concept of Aryans was actually based on sanskrit writings... so the MOST Caucasian or "white" people in the world were not Europeans who had some mixed blood but the original Iranians and Indians) In US history politically speaking "white" has largely meant WASP... for example the Morgan Freeman interview where Mike Wallace claims he's a "jew not white" when called on crimes of the white race. The currently politically correct academic definition even denies there is a thing as distinct races and rather only "ethnicities" and "populations"

It doesn't really matter what you fill out on whatever job form. According to the US Government, Indians and Chinese are both "Asian" which is (Please Use More Appropriate Word) since they are as different racially as whites and blacks. Listening to Fat Joe might be ignorant but assuming that some box on a government form somewhere is the definitive word is just as stupid.
