Halladay's return to Toronto - Canada Day long weekend

Post#1 » by MGD24 » Wed May 18, 2011 4:18 pm

Is anyone else excited for Doc's return? I know I am.

Anyone going to the games or the entire series? I am holding out on getting tickets until I know which game he is starting. So far, according to the Phillies pitching rotation, it should fall on Saturday July 2.

Think the game will sell out? Or at least close to it?

If that game doesn't sell out, baseball is dead in Toronto

Halladay's last start when everyone knew he was a goner drew less than 20 000 so who knows what the crowd will be like. Lets hope its sold out.

There's a 40% chance he won't be starting at all.

Where did you get that percentage? Are you just using the fact that they have 5 starters and are playing 3 games here, so 2 starters won't play i.e. 40%

If you follow their rotation schedule (including the double header they play in June) he is scheduled to start on the Saturday game currently. I don't see it changing that much...I would assume he starts here

Yes, to the first question.

Lots of things can change between now and July 1 (injuries, skipping starts, etc), so I wouldn't look too much into their schedule. We won't really know whether he'll start until a week or two before.

Oh ya I agree a lot can change to...but I dunno about 40%
Either way, you're right...we'll need to wait to closer to the date

Yeah, after all, it is actually likely that he will start.

I just don't like getting my hopes up for things that might not happen.

It would definitely be a major let down if he didn't start

I assume they would create some way to acknowledge him, anyway. But yeah, it would be.
