More importantly, Nash doesn't make a lot of sense for a Memphis team built around 2 low-post scorers. Neither Z-Bo nor Gasol strikes me as an especially effective pick & roll partner for Nash, so basically you're overpaying for Nash to bring up the ball, dump it in the post, and be the best spot-up shooter in the world.
The only 2 destinations (IMO) that make any sense for Nash are Orlando or New York. As an NBA fan, I'd love to see Nash running pick & roll with Dwight Howard (though it would kill me as a Suns fan). And obviously a D'Antoni/Amare reunion has some logic to it. But I don't see either team having anything the Suns would want back. I think any Nash deal would probably have to be a 3-way deal, maybe with the 3rd team absorbing salary.
Personally, I'd rather watch Nash finish out his career, then blow it up, then half-ass it by dealing him now. As others have said, no one's going to come in with a Godfather offer, so why deal Nash if you're not going to get a franchise building block?
