Interesting that Irving is not working out at the combine. He's taking the physicals, but not working out Thursday or Friday. I guess when you are the presumed #1 pick, working out can only knock you back as you can't climp higher. That, or he is hoping the Cavs get cold feet about it and he goes to Minny to play with Kevin Love.

Just saw where Kawhi Leonard will skip some of the workouts also. He will skip Thursday but work out agility drills on Friday. I have no problem with that tho. Just hoping like heck he will fall back to us at #9! As of now, most mocks have him going around #6.

Some early Jon G tweets from the combine:

Klay Thompson, Charles Jenkins some of the guys drawing early praise from NBA execs at the Combine this morning

I'm doing a little survey of NBA teams on my phone. Asking who looks good. Sarcastic responses indicate they aren't very happy w/the format

More Combine standouts: "Klay Thompson, Jimmer Fredette, Norris Cole, Iman Shumpert. Not much you can see anyway working out against chairs"

ESPN's Chad Ford is reporting that Kyrie Irving, Derrick Williams, Brandon Knight, Kemba Walker, Tristan Thompson, Alec Burks and possibly Enes Kanter and Kawhi Leonard will skip the athletic portions of the Combine. Not exactly mind-blowing considering that's become the norm at these things, but it's unclear what exactly they'd be risking by going through simple drills they've been doing their entire basketball playing careers.

Watching on ESPNU right now. They are talking Jordan Hamilton. Not sure if he will have the drive he needs all the time. Also you will get some good play out of him, but he'll take shots that'll make you scratch your head. Not sure if he is a starting caliber SF.

Chris Singleton from FSU looks like a beast on defense..which is not surprising, but he really stands out on D.

^agree. The guy had two blocks back to back as he stepped on the floor. Great D and always hustling. If we take burks at 9th, I would for sure take singleton at 19th if he's available.

Yea, only thing is his offense can be shaky, but he improved on it this past season..taking a great defender with some size, athleticism, and potential at 19 is acceptable to me. Only thing about Burks is his ability to shoot it long range is a question mark. Which is something that our team needs.

Imagine how good we'd be defensively by landing Bitchsmack and Singleton!!

I want to see how Jordan Williams looks.

Wow Chad and Fran are really talking up Jan Vessley, says he is a top 5 overall player in the draft and the most NBA ready PF in the draft due to his experience/production in the Euroleage. Saying he is even better than Kanter! Wow, some huge accolades.

I thought he was more a SF than a PF?

They are talking him up as PF that can defend both the 3 and the 4. Both had him as their top ranked PF and said that he and Kanter are right now the best players in the top 10.

Marshon Brooks apparently rubbed some people the wrong way by talking about himself in the 3rd person the entire interview

We totally need to draft this kid. Anyone who speaks of themself in the third person is ok in Slam's book.

I'm starting to come around to the idea of us taking a Euro more and more each day.

AS for the PF Rankings they have:
1. Jan Vesely
2. Tristian Thompson(Chad said he'd go anywhere from 5-10, Fran noted that he got bullied around down low alot, needs to work on strength, but has a good nose for the ball)
3. Bitchsmack
4.Jonas Valanciunas
5.Marcus Morris
6.Tobias Harris
7.Kenneth Faried(said he'll be a rebounder and energy guy in the NBA)
8.Donatas Motiejunas
9.Markieff Morris
10. Justin Harper

WOW, Chad Ford just said Bitchsmack could go as high as 2 to Minny. They love his athleticism and shot blocking. Don't see it happening though.

Fran said he has ZERO offensive game, and that Minny may very well end up trading the pick for a vet or other picks...hmmmmm.. MJ, get on it.

Interesting comparison they made on Faried. Chad compared him to Tyrus Thomas, said TT thought he would turn into a 30 ppg scorer and somehow thought he'd be able to do things that he can't on the next level. Said that is a reason why he didn't reach his full potential is b/c he was still hung up on why he didn't become that type of player. Said Faried likes blocking shots, rebounding, and influencing the game defensively which will fair good for him on the next level.

On Jordan Williams, said he really worked hard in the off-season to get in shape and it helped with his athleticism and speed, still primarily and under the rim player. Strong upper body though with good skills. Len Elmore said he should have stayed in school but wasn't sure he wanted to play for a new coach at this point in his career. Said Gary Williams may have stayed if he did.

Most Impressive players for today:
Tom Penn - Kenneth Faried, likes his attitude, rebounding and energy
Chad Ford - Enes Kanter, loves his skill and the fact that he didn't "hide" like other top prospects
Len Elmore - Marshon Brooks, said he has it all at 2 guard, size, can create for himself, others, can shoot, and has great athleticism
Fran Fraschilla - Chris Singleton, said he can guard multiple positions, has good form on his jumper that can improve, see's him as being a guy in the NBA that can knock down the corner 3. Loves his character, size, and athleticism, and of course what he does on defense.

Derrick Williams was emphatic about the fact that he is a small forward in the interviews today. Repeated it over and over again

Enes Kanter was great in the interview session. Very open, engaging. Good sense of humor. Seems like a great guy.

We have enough nice guys. We need a killer!!
